Following is a list of diner company abbreviations. I consider true diners to be those built in factories and shipped to their sites. The bulk of these companies flourished from the 30's to the 60's. Old-fashioned "chrome" diners are once again being built by companies trying to cash in on our comfort with nostalgia. Also, a recent trend in restautrant chains such as Denny's, Johnny Rockets, Ruby's, 5&Diner, Mel's Drive-In, and Chubby's is to capture the look of yesteryear.
