Designed and built in 1909, Saint Francis Manor is a home for 12 residents located on the oceanfront of Dallas road. It is adjacent to Beacon Hill park. Saint Francis Manor offers a high standard of living in a safe and comfortable environment.

This stately turn of the century home features an elegant spiral staircase winding to the second floor, comfortable fireplaces, stained glass windows, an elevator and much more. The view from the windows along Dallas Road is inspiring as the Washington state snow-capped peaks crown the sky. From the large windows facing the ocean, you can enjoy seeing many different marine vessels sail by.

In Home Services

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the dining room. We provide a complete, nutritious, and appealing meal service. Tray service to your suite is available during illness. Snacks are provided throughout the day.
Special Diets: Our kitchen provides special diets as ordered by your physician. Our dietician will monitor all special diets for your convenience.
Laundry: Personal clothes are washed weekly. A professional dry-cleaner makes regular calls as well.
Housekeeping: Daily housekeeping service is provided to all suites at the Manor.
Telephone: Phone jacks are provided in each room. You are responsible for all costs of operation of any telephone equipment ordered. We advise you to call Telus at least two weeks before arrival to ensure uninterrupted service.
Cable TV: A TV hook-up is provided in each room. Basic cable service is provided at no additional cost, but you must provide the TV set.
Hairdressing: Hairdressing is available in our salon at a reasonable cost.
Foot Care: A registered nurse is available to provide foot care.
Library: The Capital Regional Library delivers each resident's requests directly to the Manor. Large print books and audiotapes are among the items available to the residents.
Leisure Activities: A full calendar of activities is coordinated by our activity director. You are invited and encouraged to participate in all activities. If we do not provide an activity that interests you, please feel free to discuss your concern with us and we will attempt to satisfy your wish.
Doctor: You may continue to use the services of your own physician. We have a physician Medical Advisor who also can be consulted if you wish.
Companion: The services of pre-selected companions may be contracted to provide individual companionship and accompaniment on walks, appointments, or outings.
Bus: There is a city transit bus stop steps away from the Manor. It has a direct route to downtown. The Manor bus is also made available for residents. Downtown is approximately 5 minutes by bus.
Storage: We have some storage for each resident available. Individual needs for this service can be arranged prior to arrival.
Insurance: You are encouraged to obtain your own personal property and third party liability insurance coverage.
Door Lock: For safety and security the front doors are locked shortly after dusk. Residents may come and go at will. A call bell at the front door is used to summon staff after hours.
Absences, Outings or over-nights: You are kindly requested to notify the nurse-in-charge in advance when meals are to be missed or when staying away from the Manor overnight.
Walks: As we are located on Dallas road, there are some beautiful walkways stretching along the ocean steps away from the Manor. There are many different walks to be taken depending on duration and exercise level wished.
  • All rooms are equipped with 24-hour emergency call system, telephone and cable outlets.

Outside Services

Your monthly accommodation includes all the amenities and services essential to a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle, from the housekeeping service and complimentary mini-bus service to the in-house beauty salon. However, you are always welcome to arrange for any additional services that you may require outside of the Manor. Of course, we will make every attempt to help you in this if you would like us to.

As an example of an outside service arranged by the Manor, the Capital Regional Library delivers each resident's requests of books directly to the Manor. Large print books and audiotapes are among the items available to the residents.

Guest meals are available on a fee for service basis. We welcome your friends and family with pleasure. After all, this is your home!

You can feel secure knowing that your suite is linked by intercom and emergency signal to our 24-hour monitoring system right in the building.

Saint Francis Manor is on the number 31 bus route, which runs every 15 minutes. Cook Street Village, with its charming shops and banking facilities, is within walking distance. A hairdressing salon is located in the Manor for the convenience of in home service.


Residents enjoy the freedom of having access to the kitchen if they want it, although there is a fully qualified Chef preparing three delicious meals a day and snacks as needed.

In addition to the residents' private rooms, they have access to the spacious dining room and sitting room with spectacular views and comforting fireplaces. Quality of life and personal independence are foremost at the Manor.

Description

This newly renovated (2001) large family style heritage home overlooks the ocean on Dallas Road. It is surrounded by tranquil gardens and is within walking distance of Beacon Hill Park and Cook Street Village.

Indoor Features

There is a shared kitchen, living room and dining room for tenants and elevator access to all floors. Slight incline on the main floor equipped with handrails. The building is not wheelchair or scooter accessible, although there is a large wheelchair accessible powder room on the main floor. Scooter use outside only, with a designated area outside for scooter storage.

Unit Features

  • 11 small bedrooms with ensuites located on two floors.
  • Ensuite bathrooms have walk-in showers with grab bars installed.
  • Rooms have garden or ocean views.
  • A twelfth suite is located below ground floor and has a private entrance.

Emergency Response

  • Pendant-style personal alarm system.
  • 24 hour on-site emergency response.

Environmental Considerations

  • Walkers or canes only, no wheelchairs.
  • Scooter storage outdoors.

Cost

  • Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
  • Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
  • Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
  • Tenants of this setting who may be eligible for SAFER subsidy will be notified to apply. If a subsidy is granted, it must be redirected to VIHA.

Exit Criteria

  • If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
  • A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.

  • Security Deposit of $500.00 required.

  • Washer/dryer in the house for tenants to use.

Recreation Programming

  • Quiet activities with religious service and music appreciation occur on site and a daily walking/exercise program.
Personal Assistance Services
  • Personal care services provided by contracted Home Support agency.
  • Scheduled personal care assistance available during daytime and evening hours, 7 days a week.
