We put our lives together one day at a time.   Piece by piece.  Thought by thought.   Circumstance by circumstance.  Choice by choice.   Oft times, much like a sewing project.

With a sewing project, we start out with an idea, or a pattern... a specific goal.   And then we get the supplies we need... and get to work and make the dress, or curtain, or doll, or quilt.

While we can't always control everything that makes up our life, ...like the weather, or our health.... we daily gather bits and pieces of 'supplies' that we are able to work with and are able to control what we make out of them.

These supplies are things like our own thoughts, ideas, desires, likes and dislikes, talents, abilities. We can live with them for years, not paying any attention to them., and not having any idea what to do with them.   They go unused.

And sometimes we might start collecting the life supplies of other peoples ideas and needs and wants.. and we get so busy helping them live their life that our pieces of our "self", our own ideas, dreams, goals, and wants... remain scattered in piles and bits and pieces... unfinished, incomplete.

Asking the question "What do I want today?"... is a way we can look at our own inner supplies... and to be reminded we have some good things we can do with our life today, things that will make us happy if we only take time to look inside and listen to our own heart.
