You need to prepare your own car. You don't really need any other documents from Taiwan although if you get a report from your insurance company that you have a good driving record that may lower your insurance rate here in the States.
Most students don't own a car. Boston is one of the few cities in America that you can live without a car. Parking is expensive if you live in the city, and it's often not easy to find a spot. Around BU there are parking spots but it might take you a little time to find one during the school year. If you plan to drive, you should get an apartment that has a parking spot.
The female students that I know of who drives drive a Toyota Corolla. It is inexpensive, easy to drive, and easy to park.
