Introduction

Understanding how to interpret astrology charts offers a chance to fully understand character as determined by the zodiac. While astrology is based on the position of the planets, you do not need a full astronomy education to start reading charts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Interpret Astrology Charts Created Using the Zodiac

Things You'll Need

  • Astrological chart

  1. Find an astrology chart to interpret. If you do not have a program to create a chart for you, Astrodienst offers free charts (see Resources below). Use the 'Chart Drawing, Ascendant' section to create a chart. You will need a birth date, time and city to complete the chart.

  2. Start by counting the number of planet symbols above and below the line that runs horizontally across the middle of the circular chart. Ignore the key and the upside down horseshoe symbols. If more pictures are below the line, the chart has an inner world focus (introverted). If there are more images above the line, the chart has an outer world focus (extroverted). It is possible for people to be balanced with five symbols both above and below the line.

  4. Determine in which quadrant the majority of the symbols fall. From the top right, going clockwise, the quadrants represent Maturity, Achievement, Development and Beginnings. If a majority of the symbols fall in one category, the person needs to work on that aspect of her life in order to better balance herself.

  5. Look at the chart in all 12 of its sections. Each of the quadrants is separated into different sections according to the zodiac symbol that rules it. The character of the person will depend on where the different symbols fall. Look at Astrology Weekly's breakdown of the entire chart (see Resources below).

  6. Interpret the meanings of the planets by which house of the zodiac they fall in. Find a basic description of planet meanings on Astrology-Numerology.com
  7. Create basic structures using the meanings of the symbols and the houses they fall in to interpret a zodiac chart. Just combine the elements of each step into a phrase that describes where a planetary symbol falls
