Imbolc Esbat Poetry

The candle’s lit on this dark night

As all the world does sleep.

Our prayer is one of hope for light

That this darkness doesn’t keep.

The cold of Winter has been hard

Sunny days seem far away.

The starlight of this night will guard

The secrets of this day.

We celebrate in Circle round

And urge the flame to rise.

Together its hope we all have found

As the Sun returns to the skies.

The night is calm, the air is chill

As we join in sacred rites

The hope of Spring we now instill

On this holy Imbolc night.

So Blessed Be, and Merry Meet

And may we meet again.

I cannot think of a way to beat

A Sabbat spent with friends.

Awaken

Awaken, oh thunderous morn

this day of Spring’s renewing!

The frost has lifted, Earth’s reborn

the Winter’s dark receding.

Storms clash and winds sigh

the Lion roars its shout

This battle rages ‘tween Earth and Sky

Spring charging in, Winter out.

Ending gently but beginning fast

we call for sleep to end,

O Light vanquish the shadow’s cast

To Eos our prayers we send.

The Vernal Equinox has come

The days outlive the night,

Persephone’s reign below is done

Demeter now show’s Her delight.

Oh Goddess great, giver of grain

all Winter we have been calling

Release us from the Winter’s Bane

May Your blessings be a’falling!

Rebirth has come, Spring is nigh

Gaia has now awakened.

We celebrate with spirits high

Dark days finally ended.

The children play in circle round

laughter, the smiles of youth,

We see renewal and life is found

Earth’s cycle reveals the truth!!
