Spring equinox (About March 21)

1. Cast Circle of protection:

a. Visualize my hand creating a circle of light and energy. Silver- Blue flame.

Beginning in the East

Walk clock-wise around the circle, sprinkling a salt-water mixture. While doing so, say "salt and water by casting thee, no spell nor unknown purpose be, except in true accord with me, and as my will, so mote it be!"

b. Next, take the incense and, beginning in the East, walk clock-wise around the circle, allowing the smoke from the incense to cleanse the circle. While doing so, say, "I banish from this circle, all unclean and evil forces".

c. Walk the circle a second time. ? I cast this circle to protect us from all negative and positive energy and forces on any level that may come to do us harm. I draw into this circle only energies and forces that are right and good for me and the most correct for my work?

d. Walk the circle a third time and say, ?I have created a sacred space. So mote it Be?.

2. Consecrate circle and altar: ?I consecrate this circle of power to the ancient gods. Here may they manifest & bless this child?.

3. Call to Quarters:

a. To the East, I invite the powers of Air To blow out the old and bring in the new on your winds of change. I invite the sprites, the dawn, the spring. I do summon, stir and call you up- come! Be welcome in this rite. Blessed Be.

b. To the South, I invite the powers of Fire To burn away regrets and shine your gentle rays upon me for growth. I invite the firedrakes, the noon, the summer. I do summon, stir and call you up- come! Be welcome in this rite. Blessed Be.

c. To the West, I invite the powers of Water To cleanse me of negativity and purify my thoughts. I invite the mermaids, the twilight, the autumn. I do summon, stir and call you up- come! Be welcome in this rite. Blessed Be.

d. To the North, I invite the powers of Earth let you?re renewing strength bury all ills and open new paths before me. I invite the gnomes, the midnight, the winter. I do summon, stir and call you up- come! Be welcome in this rite. Blessed Be.

4. Take up wand and raise arms in greetings and say:

Behold the lord and lady of life and the giver of life. Without her lord, the goddess is barren. Without his lady, the god has no life. Each is needful of the other for completion and power, as sun to earth, the spear to the cauldron, sprit to flesh, man to woman.

5. Light the candle in the cauldron and say:

O great goddess, be with me now in your aspect as maiden, the fair one who brings joy and new life.

6. Ring the bell 1 time and say:

O great god of renewal, be with me now in your aspect of the lord of the forests, the horned god who brings warmth and love.

7. Rap the cauldron once with the wand and say:

May the strength of the old enter into the new. Great lord and lady, make all things strong and giving of new life. Blessed be.

8. Put some incense on the censer and carry it around the circle clockwise. Put censer back on the altar, raise arms and say:

Awake! All creatures in the realm of earth awake! Greet the maiden and her lover, who herald the coming of spring.

9. Touch the parchment paper with the dagger and say:

Now I cast behind me the darkness of winter and the past. I look only to that which lies ahead. This is the time for me to plant seeds in the physical, mental and spiritual.

10. Write on the paper desires for the coming year. Write only 1 desire on each piece of paper. Fold papers and hold them up over the altar in offering to the old gods and say:

This is a joyous time, a time for planting. With joy and trust, I place these requests in the hands of the goddess and her lord.

11. Light the papers one by one from the candle in the cauldron and drop them into the dish for burning and say:

These thought-seeds I do willingly place into the hands of the lady and her lord, that these desires and dreams may manifest and become reality. Blessed be the old gods!

12. Place the wine chalice on the pentacle and lift it high and say:

Honor to the old gods! Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.

11. Drink the wine, save some to put outside for the little people.

13. When fished end: Release the 4 Quarters: Walk in a counter-clockwise circle starting at East ?

14. Open the circle: Cut the circle with knife and Use hand and walk counter-clockwise beginning at the East and say ?I send this circle into the cosmos to do my bidding, the circle is undone but not broken.
