MATS: You can help to prevent the edges of a mat from curling up by pasting some ver thick starch along the edge and then ironing over some brown paper with a fairly hot iron.
** Hmmm... I wonder if you can even get starch any more, unless it's the spray type.
MATCHES: A damp match can be made to light by coating the tip in nail varnish... You do not even have to wait for the nail varnish to dry before striking it. An alternative is to rub it against the bristles of a brush..
** Nice trick, but where do you find nail varnish when you are out ice fishing or moose hunting? This must have been before 'waterproof matches'...
MICROWAVE OVENS: You can help to remove stubborn and unpleasant cooking smells from inside a microwave oven by placing a teacup containing 3 parts water to 1 part lemon juice or vinegar inside it and cooking for 8 - 10 minutes on the lowest setting .. Wipe the oven dry afterwards..
OK ... That's it for this week. Hope something was of help to you. Have a safe and happy weekend everybody.... Carrie
