Doctors are in the business of selling too. And any business will tell you that it's repeat customers that make the money for them. They find things wrong, make you come back, charge you for supplies. It's good business.

we go to stay alive.  like hospitals do some hospitals charge more for stuff so they can help ppl who can't pay the full costs.
we wait so long because the overbook since a lot of ppl just don't show up or cancel the day of the appointment.  in the long run more ppl get seen.

Only when something is really wrong.  Then I don't care what I pay as long as I feel better.   Of course once I feel better I am pissed off about what I was charged.
