ok this one will make our heads spin!!!!  here is the lead story in the paper today.

Governor signs Brody Act into law

Gov. Bob Riley has signed a bill to let prosecutors charge criminals with murder for killing fetuses.

The new law, which takes affect July 1, expands the meaning of “human beingto include “an unborn child.

Riley called the new law “one of the session’s greatest accomplishments.

now is it me or does this law confuse the hell out of you also.    if the meaning of a human being includes an unborn child shouldn't that make abortion a crime now?   or is that the real intent of the law?

I do believe you are correct on that one Jayyr. It could be used by anti abortionists to push to make abortion illegal.

However, I do think it is a damn good law. When a pregnant woman is murdered should there not be a penalty for the death of the unborn child?? Look at Scott Peterson, should he not be charged with the death of his son as well as his wife?

no charles i don't think he should have been charged in the death of the unborn baby.   i wish he could have been but we can't have it both ways.  this is an alabama law and i bet it won't be long before some doctor is charged after proforming an legal abortion.
they can't change the abortion laws so they are trying a very sneaky runaround.   we just can't have it both ways for there to be justice.   this is just another HUGE waste of money that will go to who knows how many lawyers before the surpream's have to deal with it.   how much tax payer dollars will be wasted on this silly shit instead of finding ways to help prevent unwanted pregnancys or helping new mothers with children?

Okay sooooooooooooo NOT Charles! lmao

I agree it is sneaky and underhanded. I guess it's easier for me to agree with this since I am not a big abortion fan either.

Dear All,

Without looking any deeper into this I think the Governor wants to make any unborn chilkd that was lost due to a crime (not abortion.) a double murder as in the Scott Peterson case. I know in NY (and in many states.) the law states that if a pergnant woman is attacked and she miscarries the criminal is not charged with anything more than assault.

my point micheal is you can't have it both ways.   if a woman has an abortion the law says there was no live to start with.  that life begins at birth.
the same should apply if someone kills an unborn baby.   do i like it?  hell no.   but if its a crime both should be charged.
