WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was convicted Tuesday of lying and obstructing a leak investigation that reached into the highest levels of the Bush administration.

Libby is the highest-ranking White House official to be convicted of a felony since the Iran-Contra scandal of the mid-1980s. The case brought new attention to the Bush administration's much-criticized handling of weapons of mass destruction intelligence in the run-up to the Iraq war.

The verdict culminated a nearly four-year investigation into how CIA official Valerie Plame's name was leaked to reporters in 2003. The trial revealed that top members of the administration were eager to discredit Plame's husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who accused the administration of doctoring prewar intelligence on Iraq.

Awww Giz,

they can't touch GW or DC.  Scooter wasn't convicted for outting the woman,  just lieing about it to a grand jury afterwards.  and GW can still pardon him at any time. (something i would be outraged about myself but still very possible)
Just keep telling yourself 2008 is coming.

no HC,  your fav gal got herself in deep do do here in alabama last weekend.  she got here for a speech and he accent changed from a north one to a very deep south one.  pissed a lot of people off here.

Giz,

this very kind of post is the problem.  come election day people are not going to be voteing for bush. ( unless Jeb runs and i think that is at least 8 years off)
Our Rep Gov did a fine job when it came to the storms and will balance out that bit.
But to have this woman come here and talk down to everyone, hell giz they are still upset about it here.

And while i agree scooter should have been convicted what about Jefferson of La?  are they nuts?  he was re elected after the FBI found over 90,000 in marked bills in his frezzer.   yikes.

point is there is trash on both sides here.  as normal the party in power gets the most heaped on it.  which is why the mid terms might do the dem's more damage that good in the long run.

i just want someone i can put a little faith in to run.  other than maybe Mc cain i just don't see anyone in that way right now.

Jayyr,

Awwww, come on now brother I was just playing with ya.. I figured that post would get ya going just a tad...Lol.. all kiding aside i agree with ya on most things But I don't like the GOP's agenda... I agree with you 100% there is trash on both sides... but the GOP  Claims to be the moral party.. Truth justice and the American way.. We are a nation of laws..yada yada yada.. we are going to show the rest of the world how to live and we can't even take care of our own.. Yada yada yada... We need somebody that will step up and pop the hood on this thing and do what it takes to make it right. I'm not a big fan of the two party system either.. I support term limits and i think we have lost sight of who we are as a nation..It's all about party politics and party agenda...It is no longer about what is right for America or the American people.. We need reform in our education system the heath care system is broken.. we need to rethink the well fair system.. Social security.. We have to get a infrastructure up and running for alternate fules.. For crying out loud even my 14 year old boy can see that is a matter of national security..It's time to do away with income tax and go to a flat tax or national sales tax ( I favor the national sales tax).. A collage education should be free to all Americans who want to go...It's an investment in our children that will pay everybody back 10 fold...We need accountabilty accross the board from local govenment all the way to the president... when we find you are not serving the public as you are sworn to do.. OUT YOU GO.. If you have broken the law then you will have your day in court...It's that simple... If you are on the School board and the students can't pass the F-cat then out you go and we will find somebody that can do the job..If you are a Policeman and your found to be courrpt then out you go and you to sir will have your day in court... I'm ranting now.... lol...

The " out you go" won't work giz.  when we elect people we do so for the term of office they ran for.  We can't kick them out just because we think they are doing a bad job.  The best we can do is not vote for them next time.
And there are a lot of cases where the people in office have to undo the damage done before they got there.  That could take years.

The Gop is too hard,  they want to cut every socil program to the bone.  The Dem's on the other hand want to add to every thing and make the rich pay.
The GOP wants to kick ass and take names overseas.  The Dem's on the other hand want to hand over tons of money and favors and damn near give the county away to keep from taking a stand.

Alternate fules are fine for the most part.  But remember they come with dangers themselfs.  Even something as simple sounding as useing corn to make gas needs to be thought out long and hard.  How many people over the world are we willing to starve in order to have cheep gas?  And yes that will happen if corn becomes the next oil.

We need to invest in new tech and ways but it needs to be done with out thoughts not on right now or even tomorrow.  But also how the new tech will affect us 20, 30 or even 100 years from now.
