Ok,  I will be the first to admit this is a major rant for me.  Everyone is talking about how Ethanol fuel will lessen our oil needs.  But has anyone really thought this out?

Have you noticed the price of milk, eggs and beef have risen the last few weeks?  It's because famers are switching their crops to corn now that big oil has promised to make a lot more Ethanol fuel.   This is a bad thing.  Big oil backed by the goverment pays more for corn than food producers.  Corn is used as animal feed at most farms.  Having to compete with big oil to buy feed drives up food prices.
Also more famers will switch to planting corn now,  leaving less land to plant wheat and other badly needed crops.

Not only will the cost of food far outweigh the saveings we may see at the pump but this also means many in under develped contries will not recive crops in aid.  Which means children will starve.

All so we can save a dime or so at the pump.

ethanol has promise but i agree that untill we find a different plant to produce it from its not the greatest idea...and from what i have heard its not cost effective to make the stuff...i think more money should be put into the hydrogen fuel cell research myself...i think that the waste is water and so how bad can water be for the environment..lol

I think Ethanol is a PR stunt.  We will never make enough of it to really change anything and all we will do is damage the people who are already in distress.

hydrogen fuel I think is the best answer but we are at least 20 to 25 years from being able to go nation wide with it.

Buses and bikes are great if you live in a city,  but not so much out here in the sticks of Alabama.  LOL

I think its time to clamp down on these huge gas hogs.  I would agree that a lot of families need big cars or vans because of the kids.   So lets not limit the size of the car, truck or van.  Lets limit the size of the engine.
