This will probably be very various among those who choose to post in it. We all loved certain foods back then but don`t bother with now, but what are they in your case?
Mine include Scotch pies, potted meat, faggots, pork pies, no-added-sugar ice tubs and sweeties, roast lamb (though I gave a bit to a hamster I had a few years ago, the daft little beggar wolfed it down!), cheapo supermarket brand crisps (chips in your language) and recently it`s 100% beef burgers. |

For all of you aficionados who are just longing to try "Pease Pudding and Faggots" here's the recipe: Ingredients * 2 tbsps flour . * 2 tsps mixed herbs . * 1/2 tsp salt . * 1/4 tsp pepper . * 1 lb onions, sliced . * 6 oz lentils, soaked . * 1 lb stale bread, cubed . * 1 lb pig liver, sliced . * 1/2 tsp salt . * 1/4 lb bacon fat
Directions * Step #1 Place the bread in a bowl & cover with warm water, leave for five mins. * Step #2 In a food processor/blender mix the liver, bacon fat & the onion, do not over process, the ideal is a coarse mix. * Step #3 Press the bread as dry as possible & beat with a fork till smooth, add the herbs & seasoning to the bread. * Step #4 Add the minced meat & mix the bread & meat well. * Step #5 Flour hands & form the mix into largish balls (pardon teh expression!), but not too large! Place in a lightly greased tin & bake in the oven 450 degrees till firm, about 45 mins. * Step #6 Meanwhile put the lentils in a pan, cover with water bring to the boil, reduce heat & let simmer till soft. * Step #7 Drain the lentils & mash them adding the salt. * Step #8 Serve the faggots on a bed of lentils with a rich onion gravy poured over. * Step #9 Wonderful. Enjoy the Pease Pudding & Faggots. |

Oh Prinny
Even when hurling, you are so funny and so attractive (well, that's when you are facing away from me of course!!!!!!!!!!!).
I have another recipe you might hurl (oops) enjoy; it's for Bread and Drippings: - go to the local butcher shop and ask them to give you the fat that they cut from slabs of bacon - render this fat (i.e. fry it!!) in a large frying pan until it is burned and crisp - remove the burned and crisp bits and pour the liquid fat that's in the frying pan into a container - let the fat settle and solidify; this is the 'drippings'. - take a slice of bread and spread the drippings on it just as you would butter - keep spreading and eating until full.
It really does taste good! Plus, if you have little or no money (as was the case for my family when I was young) this sure helps to fill empty bellies!!!
I also have another one that features cows brains. Let me know if you want to try that one (it's not too hard to make; I guess that you could call it a 'no brainer'!!!!).
And then there's 'Pigeon Pie' ummmmmmmm ..... |

Oh hell Sir, that's just like grease toast... Fry up bacon and make it very crisp to somewhat burnt... Then remove the bacon from the pan... Add bread slices and fry, flip and fry some more... Remove and eat!!! But please... I beg you... Let's stop there!!! |

I don't think I could be hungry enough to eat any kind of liver or spread grease on my bread. If my kids were starving...I would feed it to them tho. As a kid I love graham crakers with grape jelly on them. I ate too many once and even thinking about it as I type is making me sick to my stomach! (I neeed to borrow that!) |

I used to eat cream of chicken on waffles when I was a kid only reason I don't now is because its something my grandma used to make and I never learned how. Also it's not worth asking her how .. just one of those things. Also can't eat Chex cereal now. 2 reasons They dont' have the bloody things up here (darn foreign country!! lol) and ever since eathing nearly a whole box of them without milk back when I was around 12 I haven't been able to touch the things since |
