When we got to the airport to go to atlanta we naturally had to go through security.  What an adventure!  Everyone else just had to put their stuff in containers and take off their shoes.  But not me!  I was taken to a closed room but it was surrounded by glass so everyone could see me and I could see them.  My kids were all through and waiting for me when I got started.  First they had to find a female worker.  I was swabbed on my hands and arms and also my artificial leg.  I  looked over and they were doing the same for my scooter.  My grandson came over and they told him that if he touched me or the scooter they would have to start all over with me.  I also had to lift my skirt so they could see the top part of my leg and swabbed.  I was touched all over my body.  I think she liked doing that.  They took my hand lotion and my hair spray.  I got my lotion back in a baggie but they took my hair spray because it was in a metal can.  I had to go through the whole experience again when we were leaving Orlando.  I wasn't bothered by that because I would rather them do that then have someone go through with things they werent supposed to have.  In general the airports were very helpful.  They helped me in every way they could with rides to the gates which included my family to letting me on first to get settled.  I actually looking forward to going somewhere again.  Actually I felt really good since I made all the arrangements by myself and everything worked out.  I am planning a trip to Atlanta this summer for the amputee convention.  I know I can do it now.

Wowzers Shirley!!  You got through the airport inspections without any probs!  That's great!!!  When I went to Florida to be in a wedding, several years ago, I took a fall so on the way home I was in one of those immobilizers from my hip down and in a wheelchair.  I was amazed at how kind and considerate the airlines were with my and my 'condition.'  They met me almost at the door of the airport and whisked me through check-in and inspection.  My ticket was for a seat in the middle of the plane, but they gave me a free upgrade to the front seat on the aisle in the first class section.  I was even treated as if I were a true first class customer!  I was afraid to try and board the plane because of that immobilizer needing to stick out so far in front of me. I kinda figured I'd be told I'd have to find another way home, but I was treated like a queen instead.
Am glad to hear you're planning on going to that convention this summer.  You'll probably have a total blast!!
Ya gotta get some pics of your trip posted girlie!!
Take care!
