If you're like me and have a Vista computer, you've pulled your hair out over the trouble you have with the picture uploader. It never works right? You can only use the one at a time option? Well not anymore! Thanks to a little searching I found a solution for it that works! I did it not to long ago and I literally did squee when I saw my pictures instead of the no images found crap. Here is the easy to follow step by step directions on fixing the problem which I found on a forum for MSN.
A. Uninstalling the MSN Photo Upload Tool.
1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
2. Click on "Tools" and then select "Internet Options".
3. Click on the "Programs" tab,
4. Click on the "Manage Add-ons" button.
5. From the list, locate and select the "MSN Photo Upload Tool" ActiveX control.
6. Click on the "Delete" button found under the Delete ActiveX section.
7. Click "Ok" to close out the Internet Options window.
8. Close Internet Explorer and then restart your computer.
B. Sign in as Administrator in Windows Vista
Note: You will need to be signed in as an Administrator in your computer in order to proceed with the following steps. If your Windows Vista user profile does not have administrative privileges, please select the Administrator user profile when signing in to Vista. If you know that your Vista profile already has administrative privileges, proceed to step C.
There is a chance that the Administrator user profile will be hidden from the Vista Log in screen. Here are steps on how to show the Admin account:
1. If your computer opens to the new user's desktop, click "Start".
2. Click "Log Off", and then click "Log Off" again. This will log off your computer and open a friendly logon screen.
3. At the friendly logon screen press Ctrl + Alt + Del keys twice. A smaller logon window appears.
4. Type "Administrator" (without quotation marks) into the "Username" field.
5. Type in a password if one was used for the Administrator account (usually, there is no password).
6. Click "OK". Windows Vista will now be logged on to the original Administrator Account.
C. Changing User Account Control settings in Windows Vista
1. Click on "Start" and then select "Control Panel".
2. Click on "User accounts and Family Safety".
3. Click on "User accounts".
4. Click on the small shield icon with the text "Turn user account control on or off".
5. Remove the selection of "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer".
D. Reinstalling the MSN Photo Upload Tool.
1. Sign in to your MSN Group.
2. Click "Pictures".
3. Click on "Add Photo".
4. Click "Install" to download the ActiveX control.
5. If a Security warning dialog box appears, click "Yes".
6. If a yellow bar appears prompting you to install the Active X control, click "Install". The yellow bar will appear below your browser's address field.
Once the MSN Photo Upload Tool is installed, you may turn the selection of "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" back on.
The steps above should help you add photos to your MSN Group.
And there you do! It's easy and it fricken works!! -flies off all super hero like to post this on other groups-
