You’re all that I have (a vampire romance): part 1, Anniversary
The cold pure white snow fell from the dark cloudy evening sky, resting softly on the headstones which were neatly scattered around the small cemetery. In the back of the cemetery, two headstones sat side by side. In front of the headstones sat a teenage girl, her long jet black hair swayed softly in the gentle wind, her piercing green eyes almost glowed in the dim light, and her skin was pale like the snow that was falling from the skies above her. She was wearing a long black skirt, large black buckle boots, and a heavy black coat to keep her warm. The girl sighed and watched her breath form a small puff of warm air in front of her face. She switched her gaze from one headstone to the other, reading the words that had been carved into them.
The headstone on the right, read: Derek M. Kerrigan 1967-2005
The headstone on the left, read: Caroline J. Kerrigan 1969-2005
The girl reached her hand out and lightly touched the left headstone and sighed again. She then heard the light sound of shoes crushing dirt and snow. She looked back and saw another girl, a few years younger then her. The other girl had short naturally curly dark chocolate brown hair, her eyes were dark, almost black in the dim light of the cloudy evening, and her skin was beautifully and naturally tanned. She wore a long and heavy blue jacket and scarf, and worn blue jeans. The other girl sighed sadly and looked at the sitting girl.
“Raven, you have to come back home. It’s getting late and its way past curfew.?Raven shook her head and looked back at the headstones.
“I can’t, Abby...at least not yet...?She touched the right headstone.
“It happened two years ago today...so I had to come and see them...?Ravens voice went quiet when she spoke. Abby sighed and sat down next to Raven.
“Raven, you are my very best friend, and I care about you so much. And I know it’s really painful, but its not healthy sitting in the snow all day like you have, so come on home with me.?Abby stood back up and offered her hand to Raven. Raven looked up at her friend and took her hand. She slowly stood up and brushed the snow and dirt off her skirt.
“I don’t really see why I should go back to that place. Everyone there is so mean and hates me. It’s either because I’m older then the rest of the orphans or because I’m so different then the rest of them.?Abby put her hand on Ravens shoulder.
“They don’t hate you, Raven. Sure they can be mean, but they don’t hate you. Besides, you aren’t that much older, you’re only 16. Now come on, it’s almost time to go to sleep.?The two friends then left the cemetery and went back to the orphanage they lived in. Little did they know, someone or something was watching them from the shadows.
