All the best for the induction tomorrow (if Mrs M isn't already in labour).  Will be thinking of you all tomorrow.

Wow!  So awesome that he has arrived!

Sometimes babies enjoy making a dramatic entrance into the world!

All the best to you guys.  When you're all settled and Sarah is all recovered, I'll have to pop over for a cuppa.

Sarah came home today against medical advice, it was a hard choice. Medically the doctors said she was fine but
wanted to keep her under obs one more night due to a low iron count. When talking with Sarah I was extremely
concerned about post natal deppression.

Sarah was in a room by herself, I had been given limited access, the bed was uncomfortable and she was really
upset and lonely. Sarahs mum is here with us so I decided that we could look after her here just as well and keep
her happy.

Thomas is now off the breathing machine and antibiotics but still in an incubator. The staff in the neo natal unit (nnu)
are fantastic and I wish I could buy them all a decent present each.

We had our first cuddle today and it was so cool, we are lucky with the nnu that we are allowed in anytime of the
day or night to see our little man. All we have to do is get past security which hopefully wont be a problem.

On an off the subject matter I sent Micheal Laws an email wishing him luck, blow me down I got one back from him.
As a parent I really feel for anybody in his situation.

Back on the subject the reason I had limited access to Sarah was because the nazi midwifes in the maternity wing
told me I was allowed to visit Sarah between 8am to 8:30pm but I was not allowed to bring our son to hospital
into the ward till after 2pm. As we are by ourselves I couldnt leave Samuel at home (he is 2 1/2 years old) so I
had to wait till my MIL arrived at 2pm before I could go in.

I just want to reiterate to everybody that the nurses at the nnu are awesome.

Enough rambling I am still tired and probably not making sense.

Thanks for all your kind words

Hey Macca - I think bringing Sarah home was the best idea.  It does get quite lonely being in a room by yourself.

I think some midwives take the rules to the extreme.  They seem to forget that you can't leave a 2 year old at home alone anymore.  They also forget that seeing your children and having them around is a good recovery method.

Macca, so pleased to hear about the first cuddle!  He'll be home in no time!

Yeah, I sent Michael Laws an e-mail last week and it was nice to get if not a short reply, but a reply nonetheless.  It is nice he's taking the time to recognise those supporting his daughter's recovery.

Morning Macca and Sarah.  I agree with Beaker about it being good that Sarah is home.  My younger 2 were in NNICU when they were born with Respiratory Distress as they were both prems.  And yes it was scary seeing them in incubators with wires and oxygen attached to them.  I went home within several days as I had the other kiddies at home and went to the hospital several times a day to be with my babies.  They both came home after 2 weeks even though Cassidy was born 8 weeks prem.  I am sure that your little fella will be home soon.

All the best

I hope it was just the day 3 blues Sarah and Macca.
I can sympathise about the staying in hospital or going home dilemma. I have spent a fair bit of time in the antenatal and materity wards and I am not sure which is worse, sharing a room or being in a room on your own without your baby. Limited visiting hours suck when you are on your own.
At least in Palmerston North it isn't a 40 min - 1 hour trek to see your baby boy. It sounds like you may have him home soon.

Last night sucked, we were doing 4 hourly feeds from home, so it was...
up at midnight back at 2am, up at 4am back at 6am, made for a hard night
especially as I went to work for the first time today.

The lovely NNU nurses have organised a bedroom for Sarah so she can stay
there at nights to make the nightly feeding a bit easier.

I was going to take Samuel in tonight so he can see Thomas but have realised
that NNU is not a good place for young children. We explained that Thomas
was no longer in Mum's tummy and showed him a picture of Thomas.

Samuels response when looking at the photo "baby Thomas, shit shit shit"

Congratulations Macca. Sorry Im so late, computer had to go and get sorted which took a week.  I also  had 2 of mine in neonatal, Kel was there for 6 weeks so I know just what you and Mrs Macca are going thru. It is so neat she can feed and stay in at night to do so.  It is so good for the wee bubs to have 'natures best'.  Look after Mrs Macca she may end up worn out with the low iron count.
