This is a Yahoo group where I make high resolution photographs available for other people to view or download. Most photos I post on MSN groups are low resolution copies of 5 Mega-pixel digital photographs that have been reduced from TIFF files of 14.4 MB or JPEG files of 1.9 to 2.4 MB (originally 2592x1944 size). Because MSN restrict photograph file size to only 1 MB and usually reduce photos even further, I use the Yahoo group to display photographs of higher resolution. If you see one of my photographs on this group or any other MSN group and would like a higher resolution copy of it, let me know and I can make a copy avaliable on the Yahoo group. You will need to use a Yahoo identity to join the group to view or download any photos from there, but this is a relatively quick and easy process. Membership is open and anyone may join, however please display your MSN nickname on your Yahoo profile so I know who you are. Photographs will be stored in either the Photos or the Files sections of the group. They are generally displayed at 800x600 resolution, but I can upload 1024x768, 640x480 or 400x300 resolution images (or any other size) if anyone wants an image of a particular resolution. You only need to ask. I do however request that you don't use any of my photographs for anything other than private use without first asking my permission.

 

Xtra News Community 2 on Yahoo groups is a backup and companion to Xtra News Community 2 on MSN groups.  Unlike MSN groups which function as a web-accessed message board (with a secondary email list function), Yahoo groups are primarily an excellent email list message board, although they can be accessed via the web but are not as user friendly as a MSN group when accessed this way.  Where Yahoo groups completely win over MSN groups is in their far more flexible photo and file facility.  MSN groups restrict photograph and document file sizes to 1 MB and place a free storage limit of 3 MB on each member, whereas Yahoo groups have no storage limit on individual members, but instead place a storage limit on each individual group.  Groups have a maximum file storage limit of 50 MB and this is split between 30 MB in the Photos section and 20 MB in the Files section.  There is no limit to individual file size, subject to the group limits.  Accordingly, Yahoo groups are excellent for uploading photographs for display.  The Yahoo group, Xtra News Community 2 is currently open for posting and reading messages via the web on the Messages board, but you will need to join the group to post and receive messages via email or upload and/or view photographs and document files.

This photo gallery at Fotopic.Net contains numerous images of the Whittaker's Wings Over Wairarapa 2005 airshow.  Sometime in early April, images from the Classic Fighters Marborough 2005 airshow will also be put on display.  Photos in this collection will display as VGA (640x480) images, but clicking on any individual photo will open a full-size 800x600 (or slightly larger 800x600+) image.
