Should you decide to revert to XP from Vista, apparantly there are a few issues re drivers.

A site I stumbled on while looking for something totally different  .......
Deals with Vista in a moderately large way - including gaming.

well i have exams coming up  which means its procrastination time

ive still got  vista (mainly because im to lazy to have it changed)
and i have to say as crap as it was to start out with its  going quite well now after numerous updates  setting up networds is as easy as hell and most if not all of the horrible  vista stuff can be turned off  there is the odd issue with drivers but most developers have  vista drivers on thier respective home pages  if it doesnt already run. the other main problem if had is that  alot of things wont run on a duel core machine but going to task manage > processes  then right clicking on the process running what ever program you want  you use and setting its affinity to one cpu fixes that easy =)

all i need to do now is biff some more ram in it.
that and wait untill Q3 next year and hopefully AMD will be releasing the phenom chip  so i can build a nice desk top for machines that will just happen to run games as well as run my school programs

ps  computer hard ware is as cheap as chips (pun ^^ get it =)  ) atm due to the dollar and im guessing  vista creating a demand for more ram   1 gm ddr2 is down to about 30-40 $   instead of the 150 + that it was not to long ago so if your thinking about upgrading bits and peices  www.qmb.co.nz and www.pricespy.co.nz  would be worth a look at

We need to replace our laptop.  I am reluctant to replace with Vista, and reluctant to replace with a 7 yr old OS - even though MS is going to support XP till 2014 [place Tui beer ad here]
My BIL is a serious computer user, and is moving over to Mac.
Anyone got any comments re MS v Mac?

i dont like mac, its said that theu have less virus's  but thte reason they give for that is less people using it,  taht'll change if teh is a big up surge.
i think alot of its personal choice, you wont find any gamers using macs because they are horrible for games,  they used to make thier own parts which ment replacements and stuff had to come from them  though they are going more main stream now.
if you read through some of the  computer articles around it seems that those silly ipod things were the only thing that stoped the company going under, i dont know if its true or not but i wouldnt be surprized.
you might have no problem with it depending what your going to use it for but if you do get one try and see if your programs you want to uses will rn on it ( or si sopose you could  duel boot it to  run others)  all teh stuff im doing at school is windows based so i couldnt use a mac.
mac is the only company that i think is worse than dell and i really really dont like dell.
