Boy dies near newly laid underground power cables
A seven-year-old boy was electrocuted near Napier today apparently after touching a metal stake in ground where electricity cables had been laid.
Two ambulance crews worked for nearly half an hour to try to resuscitate the boy but he died at the scene in Westminster Ave in Tamatea, Stephen Smith, district operations manager for St John Ambulance said.
The call was received at around 2pm.
Police said they will make a statement later.
