The Circle

This brief history of the symbolism of a circle will start at Stonehenge. It was built around 2000 B.C. It has been shown to be an astronomical clock and cosmic calculator. Stonehenge follows the movement of the Moon, Sun, and Planetary Constellations. Many stone circles such as Stonehenge are found around the world. These circles were also used as sacred sites. Celebration rituals and dedications took place there. At that time astrology and astronomy were considered the same.  The zodiac we know today is derived from the study and practice of these arts. The word "Zodiac" is taken from the Greek word zoidiakos, meaning "Signal" or "Circle" and is incorporated into the word "Ziodion", meaning "Animal Circle".

For nearly all early civilizations, the circle represented ultimate cosmic order. Early people believed that the universe was held together by a binding force, or thread.

This was represented by the ouroboros, a snake swallowing its own tail.  In this way the Circle became the symbol of perfection, representing the unity of self; the heart of humanity; the seed; the womb.The Circle became synonymous with the Spiritual Wheel of Life. It represents the conscious and subconscious;

Heaven and Earth; nothing and all; the psyche and the universe.

 In ancient Egypt the mathematical number 0 was thought of as the number of Nut, Mother of Osiris, Isis, Nephthys and Set.  It was considered holy, a place where all knowledge came from. It was the ultimate symbol of fertility and the feminine.

Native Americans have the Medicine Wheel or Sacred Hoop. There are four cardinal directions which represent various stages of growth and enlightenment. The soul must pass through these stages to complete the "Good Red Road" of physical life. The Life, Death, and Life Cycle is symbolized in the Circle.

Casting;

 Wiccans usually cast a circle which is about 9 feet in diameter. This size evokes the power of Mars.

The circle is usually opened by walking counterclockwise around it. The counterclockwise movement is called going widdershins, against the sun. Some wiccans construct the circle with their Wand, Athame, or their Finger. The circle is closed by walking clockwise or what is known as deosil, the path of the sun. Some Wiccans open and close a circle by reversing these, opening deosil and closing widdershins. It depends on the tradition followed or ones solitary practices. Make sure you will not be interrupted when casting your circle. Interruptions dissipate the flow of energy. If you are working inside, the room needs to be well ventilated because of the burning Herbs or Incense. If you are working outside, be sure it is private. You do not want anyone to interrupt.

Casting A Circle;

1.) Remove all animals and small children from the area and any furniture that you don`t want inside your circle.

2.) Set up your alter before you cast your circle.

3.) Locate magnetic North, holding wand or anthame, out from your body, go into astral realm and visualize the wand`s aura extending out from the tip.

4.) Visualize the tip creating a circle of light and energy , like a laser,as you walk clockwise three times around the area.The circumference drawn by the wand`s tip will be the edge of your circle.Project white light out from the wand to create the circle as geometrically perfect and say to yourself that it is..

5.) Walk the circle the second time around say out loud: "I cast this circle to protect me/us from all negative and positive energies and forces on any level that may come to do me harm. I draw into this circle only the energies and forces that are right for me and the most correct form purposes".....

6.) Walk the circle three times . On the third time say-"I create sacred space. So mote it be."

7.) Invoke the four directions, energies of the elements, angels, powers that reside in them by using your anthame/or wand or index finger, to draw an invoking pentagram as you face each direction. Use a ritual spell of invocation.

8.) To open the circle hold the wand out over the circumference of the circle  beginning at the North, walk once around the circle counterclockwise as you say, "I send this circle into the cosmos to do my bidding, the circle is undone but not broken."..

9.) VERY IMPORTANT!!  If you or someone needs to leave the circle before you can dispel it, draw a doorway in it and step through then close behind you till you can properly close the circle.

 ~Casting the Circle Ritual~

Goddess within
Goddess without
As above, it is below.

The circle continues
Always open
Never broken
As above, it is below.

Circles Why Use Them

They say that the longest journey begins with a single step. So, too, the exploration of Magickal studies begins with a single step. Though the first step in a physical journey is often self-evident, the First Step on a Magickal journey is often not quite so clear.. While formally organized groups often have a path of lessons to instruct newcomers, the solitary or isolated student is often left standing in perplexity on this broad plain of knowledge, wondering just where in the heck to begin. And wondering, too, if it's "okay" to start just anywhere..

While it's true that studies can begin in a direction that attracts you, the necessary first step must be learning to make psychic shields. There are "Things of the Dark" out there. There are any number of explanations for what these things might be--ghosts, demons, or simply uncontrolled urges of the subconscious mind. In truth, it doesn't matter what they are. What does matter is that their effect is very real and unless they are put under your control, they will drag you over the borders of sanity into psychosis. You are most vulnerable to them while you're in an "open" trance or meditative state. That's why the wise practitioner always begins by taking steps to define exactly what will be permitted through the portals of their "psychic shields"-- no matter how simple the ritual. And this, in a nutshell, is what "protective magic" is about. There are a number of ways to do this. The most common is to begin by drawing a circle (around a group or yourself) and invoking the one or more protective powers. Generally, this is done by candlelight, in front of an altar that holds certain magical objects. The circle may be further "secured" and "cleared" by using salt, salt water rum, incense, or some other method. You may be wearing a special robe and will have taken a bath (or performed a cleansing ritual) earlier. The powers that protect you will be called on and then you will begin your ritual..

Is it psychological? Absolutely! Is there a reason why protection rituals always take this form? Positively! Let's take a step back and see what you're actually doing and how the process works- from a psychological standpoint- and how to use this knowledge to help you refine your circles to enhance your rituals. Psychologists and psychics alike view the mind's structure as a three-part entity: The ego (that which you think of as yourself), The superego (the "higher self") and The Id (the child within). The Id is, in a sense, a computer..

Like most computers, it operates on the "garbage in- garbage out" principle. There's an old superstition "as you name something, so will it become." Tell yourself that you're very unlucky and your id will obligingly give you bad days by enhancing any negatives in your environment. Tell yourself that you are clumsy, and your id-computer will obligingly arrange for you to break a leg while stepping off the sidewalk.

The bad news is that the Id can't make a judgment as to whether or not this is a good idea. It only knows that it's received these "instructions" and must carry them out. The good news is that you can actually program/reprogram this portion of your mind.  You begin programming this Internal Servant of yours by first drawing its attention to what you want done and then explaining what you need done in a simple and clear manner. Repeating the instructions in a chant help fix the goals for the Id-- rhymed chants seem to be easier for it to process.

Each time you perform the ritual and repeat the chant, the programming is strengthened. Never mind that your ego and superego understand that you're going to program the child-like Id. It works just the same. To direct the Id's attention to the process, you first have to impress it. Using special tools and clothing alert it that something unusual is going on and that it must pay attention.

Acquiring hard-to-obtain items, drawing symbols, performing a symbolic sacrifice (donating money, say, to a good cause) are all ways of reinforcing the Id's impression that this ceremony is very special and that the result will be very powerful. Organized, meaningful symbols, speak to your subconscious mind in ways it understands, reinforcing the goals you have set..

Drawing the circle itself establishes boundaries within your environment ("The rest of the world can do what it likes Out There. All within this circle is in MY control!").  Purifying the circle and consecrating it (sprinkling water which has been blessed and salt added) further enforce your territory, defining the borders where you are "safe"). Nothing can enter this area except what you invite inside. You further tighten these borders by calling on certain powers.

 You can call on any powers you like. Some use traditional Christian images. Others call up deities from the religion they are most comfortable with. And many people use the thought/image of a beam of light that represents either God/Goddess (whichever one they like) OR The power of light and life and goodness in the Universe.

The number of powers called as guardians varies. You may choose to invoke one powerful being to protect your circle. Or you might call on the Universal Being/Light AND four guardians (one for each quarter of the compass).

A third approach is to use a guardian for the four quarters of the compass and no higher being. There is no "absolutely correct" system; the correct system is the one that YOU are comfortable with.. Take time to choose the guardians of your circle carefully. You should select guardians (gods or animals or some form of life) which have a deeper meaning to you and whose qualities are in harmony with your goals. For the new student, it's best to have all your Powers and Guardians from the same belief system/religion/mythic universe so that the symbols will be consistent and not confuse the Id.

You CAN use people-- saints, movie actors, figures from favorite books as guardians. DO, however, pick someone who's dead or non-existent. The dead can't argue with your interpretation of them, whereas the living may be highly offended to be approached as gods / guardians. As your studies continue, you will find that your totems or guardians change. This is to be expected; as you explore new realms in your studies, you may find you need guardians who deal with very specific areas to strengthen and guide you in these new fields.

But don't make the mistake of assuming that you'll become so powerful that you will never need the protection of the psychic shielding circle in some form. And don't assume that you will not need a circle for "positive" magick such as healing. Open is open-- and open is vulnerable. And circles strengthen and protect you by defining what psychological influences will be allowed to work with you.

Circle Ettiquette

 You've been invited to a local Wiccan/Pagan circle at the high priestesses' house. You've never been to one before and you're not sure what you should do. Here are a few tips on what to do and what not to do when attending a gathering at someone elses' home.

1. Arrive on Time! - If you have been told to get there by 7 p.m., be there on time. There is a little thing in the Pagan community called "Pagan Time." This is the time kept by people who arrive 3 hours late. Personally, I don't buy it. Late is late and late is rude! Being a Pagan doesn't give you some right to be rude.

2. Introduce yourself - Make it your business to find the hostess and say a quick hello. Give a quick introduction and take your leave. The hostess has a lot to organise and doesn't need to hold your hand.

3. This is Someone's home! - Remember, this circle is being conducted in someones home. Don't wander around, and don't touch anything. Respect the trust placed in you when you were invited.

4. If you don't need it, don't bring it! - Many small circles are held in peoples homes, which usually aren't mansions. Don't bring a lot of ritual gear if you don't need it. Ask what you will need and bring only that. Also, ask how you should be dressed, e.g., street clothes or full ritual regalia.

5. Bring the hostess a gift - Don't spend a fortune. If it's your first time, what about a little jar of some incense you made or perhaps something a bit more practical, like a roll of charcoal blocks.

6. Food - if you are asked to bring food, find out how many people will be there and buy or prepare something appropriate. Don't bring a bag of chips! Finger food works best.

7. Wash - this may sound silly but do have a bath or shower before you arrive for the circle. Cleanliness makes the evening more pleasant for everyone else and it's also important to be clean when taking part in rituals. There is a reason (both practical and spiritual) why all religions promote cleanliness in relation to worship!

8. Children - If you have kids, ask if they are welcome at the circle. Not all rituals are appropriate for kids and they can be distracting if they get tired or bored. It shouldn't be up to someone else to look after them if you are busy.

9. Damage - the old adage, "You break it, you bought it!" holds here. You should replace any damages or brakages no matter what the hostess says. Have a look and find a replacement or send enough money to cover its replacement.

10. Circle Behaviour - Before the circle begins, find someone who is helping to organise the event and ask them to give you a rundown on what is expected of you. If there isn't time for this, do as you are told, keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open.

11. Don't Cause A Scene - if you have a problem with someone or with how the ritual was conducted, don't make a scene during or after the circle. If you feel strongly about it, speak to the relevant people at another time, and do so constructively.

12. Go Home! - Circles can be very draining experiences both physically and mentally for those who organise and run them. Learn when to leave.

13. Thank the hostess for a nice evening and leave. If you notice the place is a mess, it would probably be much appreciated if you offered to help clean up a little. If the offer is refused, accept the refusal gracefully and leave.

When attending a circle you are often entering someone's home. Repect that. Also remember that you are taking part in a sacred celebration. Give it the respect and contribution that it deserves. And remember, good manners never go out of fashion!

Why Wiccans
Work In A Circle

"All energy moves in a circular manner, that is, in a spiral."

We represent energy as moving in waves, but a wave is actually a two-dimential image of a three-dimensional configuration. If you can't picture this, take a spring and uncoil it slightly, or wind some wire or a twist tie around a pencil, then pull it off.  Squint at the coil or spring, or look at its shadow, and you'll see that, in two dimensions, it looks like a wave.

So, by working within a circle, you are working within the greater model of how energy moves in the Universe.  From the invisible quantum level of subatomic particles whirling in their orbits, to the glory of galaxies spinning in theirs, the Universe moves in circles.

"When you work with energy within a circle you are working in harmony with the organic flow of all energies."

That's how magic works - you learn from Nature and harness the natural flow of energies in the Universe.  A circle symbolizes infinity, for it has neither a beginning nor an ending.  When we say that 'Our circle is cast - we are between the worlds', this means that our circle is actually a nexus joining the worlds of spirit and matter, divine and human - it is the point of connection between the two.
A circle joins the infinite with the immediate - and literally shows us the meaning of the old occult maxim, 'As above, so below.' We work in a circle because we live in the eternal circle of life - the cycles of the seasons, the Moon, the Sun, the Tides, and the Heavens moving above us.

Working within a circle helps our psyches attune to the natural rhythms of divine energy that animate and regulate the order of the natural world.  As we work within the circle, and as we study Nature, we see how its cycles relate to the cycles of our own lives, and we begin to recognize divine patterns of change and transformation at play. When you take your place in a circle, the physical shape - the roundness - literally andimmediately changes the energy dynamics with which we have been conditioned to approach spirituality.

When we work together in a circle we create a new model of social relationshops. In the old biblical traditions, the passive parishioner sits in a pew, and is subordinate to the spriritual professional at the podium, who is subordinate to the transcendental God in his heavon above.  The structure of the church reflects the power relationshops, and the energy dynamics, of patriarchy.

But everyone is equal in a circle - there is no elevated podium separating the Priestess and Priest from the rest of the community, and no hierarchy between you and the Divine. The shape of the circle also places each individual within view of everyone else, so just by participating in this simple organic form we create an immediate intimacy, connection, and sense of community.  And even in some of the enormous circles that I have participated in, with hindreds of people, the circle connects everyone present - it creates community.

And indeed, the physicl shape of a circle facilitates the movement of energy, for just as cooking pots are round to provide for equal distribution of heat throughout whatever is being prepared. A circle distributes divine energy equally throughout the practicioners, though each of us responds in uniquely personal ways.

Casting a Circle
#2

When you finally have everything physically setup, light the candles and incense. Take your athame and touch the water bowl with it and say something like the following:

"I purify this water that it may be fit to dwell within this circle of power in the name of my lady and lord, I purify thee."

Next touch the athame to the salt and say:

"I purify this salt that it may be fit to dwell within this circle of power in the name of my lady and lord, I purify thee."

Next, at the North Candle, hold the athame at waist-level pointing outward. Walk slowly clockwise around the circle (make sure that your feet are within the physically marked circle). As you do this visualize a wall of energy forming (see the energy pouring forth from the athame) and say :

"Charge this circle by Your powers, wise ones! Only love shall dwell within this sacred place."

When you come back to the North point, lay the athame back on the altar. Then take the wand and hold it up at the North quarter candle. As you say the following, visualize the spirit of Earth entering into the circle:

"I call upon thee, O Spirit of Earth, may you enter this circle and charge it with thy power."

Then do the same at the East-Air, South-Fire, and West-Water in that order. Lay the wand back on the altar and stand before the altar. Stop and let yourself feel the energy of the circle pulsating around you. Feel it's power.

(Note: The Circle is actually a sphere of power, so the energy of the Circle flows completely around you.)

Now your Circle is Cast. You may now go on to invoking the Goddess and God and performing Rituals, Spells, and Divinations.

 Cutting a Doorway and Releasing the Circle

Upon occassion you might need to leave the circle before you're done with your ritual, you can do this by cutting a doorway. Face Northeast and take your athame pointed downward, pierce the wall of energy and cut a doorway (big enough for you to go through) moving the athame in a counter-clockwise direction.

Visualize a doorway being made. Then you can leave and come back when you are ready to finish. When you return to the circle, enter through the doorway. Then take the athame and starting at the bottom point where you ended when you cut the door, redraw the doorway visualizing the energy filling the doorway and connecting with the rest of the circle. When you have completed all of your Ritual, Spells, and Divinations; take the wand and hold it up at the North.

Say the following:

"O, Spirit of the Earth, I give thee thanks, go in peace."

Do the same for the East-Air, South-Fire, and West-Water in that order.

When you return to the North, hold the wand up for a moment, then place it back on the altar. Next, take the athame and hold it at waist-level at the North point of the circle. Pierce the wall of energy and as you walk slowly in a clock-wise direction, visualize the the energy being drawn back into the athame. When you get back to the North point, the circle has been released.

Then it is time to put things away and clean up.

 ~Casting a Circle~

The Basics of Ritual

Casting a circle is the first part of any ritual, and although there are traditional ways to do this, you can adapt these rituals to suit your own needs. The circle defines your sacred space, and helps keep your own magickal energy in and negative energy out. While casting the circle, it's also common to mark the circle with sprinkled salt water, a line of chalk or even a long cord. Though we refer to it as a circle, you should think of it more like a 3 dimensional sphere.

Typical Circle Casting includes

Visualizing the boundaries of the circle, asking the Elemental Guardians to watch over the circle, and then asking Deity to join your ritual. Once your ritual is complete, you reverse the procedure: thanking the Gods and Guardians and releasing them, then visualizing the closing of the circle. Your precise words can be elaborate or very simple. You can use a variety of examples..

Casting A Ritual Circle

Circle Casting is one of the distinguishing features of Neopagan Witchcraft. All religions have procedures for establishing Sacred Space.

Casting a Circle is the Wiccan practice that fulfills that function. The Circle establishes the outer rim of the sacred space. The Circle sets the ritual space apart from the normal everyday space; it delineates the boundaries between our mundane practices and the realm of magical interaction.

It is a declaration of parameters. It also helps to contain and focus the energies raised, it acts as a containment field for the energies that are summoned later. The casting of the circle is a magical act and should be sealed with a statement of success or some signal of completion.

When the Circle is being cast the participants should be visualizing a sphere of energy forming around them, the details of this visualization vary. Once it is cast, no one should leave without making some concession to the barrier such as "cutting a door". This is a "Three worlds" Circle casting that I prefer because it speaks to the purpose of the Circle casting.

"Now we make our sacred space
  By building a sphere of energy around us
  We cast this circle of light by calling upon
  the three worlds we move between
  We cast this circle thrice about:
  Once for the world of daylight,
  For the world of intellect and clarity.

  We cast this circle thrice about:
  Once for the world of moonlight,
  for the world of intuition and secrets.

  We cast this circle thrice and last:
  Once for the world out of time,
  Between all places,
  Where we meet to do our Work.

  The Circle is cast
  We stand between the worlds
  Let all who enter, enter in love
  Let all who leave, leave in peace."

This is the circle casting I learned from my teacher. This is sort of an accordion piece, each verse can be stretched or condensed to last all the way around the Circle. The descriptive section, after the colon and before the final line of each section, can be improvised upon for as long as necessary.

"We cast this circle thrice about,
  once for the maiden,
  Innocent and free.
  We are the maiden when we:
  begin a new thing
  know the beauty of the ordinary
  marvel in the everyday
  are joyful in life
  we are the maiden and the maiden is us.
  We cast this circle thrice about,
  Once for the Mother,
  Nurturing and strong.
  We are the mother when we:
  are Generous and loving
  when we have the courage to lead
  stand up for what we believe in
  think of others first
  we are the mother and the mother is us.

  We cast this circle thrice about,
  Once for the Crone,
  Old and in wisdom strong.
  We are the crone when we:
  teach others
  seek inner truth
  comfort the weak
  we are the crone and is us.

  The Circle is cast.
  We stand between the worlds,
  Between all places,
  Where we meet to do our Work.
  Let all who enter, enter in love,
  Let all who leave, leave in peace."

A Simple Circle

Walk the circle, or mark the boundary Saying;

"I walk this circle once around,

to cleanse and consecrate this ground.

I walk this circle once again,

time and energy both shall bend.

I walk this circle thrice about to keep all negativity out.

Herein the boundary of the Circle of Stones."

"Goddess Protect us
Naught but love shall enter in and
Naught but love shall emerge from within.
Charge this by Your powers, Old Ones,
and those whom we come from."

East;
"Hail and welcome powers of
Air
Powers of freedom, perception and thought
Bless my rite and protect this circle."

South;
"Hail and welcome powers of
Fire
Powers of love, healing and nature
Bless my rite and protect this circle."

West;
"Hail and welcome powers of
Water
Powers of emotions, feelings, and dreams
Bless my rite and protect this circle."

North;
"Hail and welcome powers of the
Earth
Powers of stability, security and fertility
Bless my rite and protect this circle."

"This circle is bound,

With power all around.

Between the worlds,

I stand,

With protection at every hand."

When You close the circle.

Conduct the above in the reverse order,

thank the Elements the Old Ones,

and those who have gone before.

Sacred Stone Circle

The sacred stone circle is ideal for any type of working - meditation, energy raising, ritual practice, divination.

It is best built outdoors, but can easily be built inside.

This attunes you with your natural energy, your higher self, and the spirit world.

For the Circle of Stones you will need four:

 Large Stones,

A Bowl of Water,

A Stick of Sandlewood Incense,

 Salt,

 A Red Candle.

Place your first stone in the North.

Walking clockwise, place the second stone in the East.

Then place the third stone in the South.

Then place the forth stone in the West.

The result will be a square of stones with enough space to sit or work.

This square represents the earth (physical) plane.

Now, take a handful of salt and walk clockwise (beginning at the north), pouring the salt in a circle connecting the stones.

As you do this, feel the protecting blessing energy of the salt.

This represents the "overlapping" of the earth plane and the spirit (nonphysical) planes so that you may safely work closer to the nonphysical realm.

Now place your bowl of earth on or beside the north stone.

Move to the east stone and place your incense on or beside the stone.

Light it, and move on the to south stone.

Place your candle here and Light it.

Finally, place the bowl of water in the west.

Sit facing north, or whichever direction you are most comfortable.

You may now begin your meditation or ritual work within your sacred stone circle!

Circle Ritual

 Needed:

Bowl of Water

Feather

Candle

Bowl of Salt

Athame

If you don’t have any of these don’t worry. You can use your Index Finger as an Athame and you don’t need anything to do a circle or a spell. You have to learn this.

Steps:

Place the Bowl of Water in the East,

Feather in the South,

Candle in the North.

Salt in the West.

Stand where you want to cast the circle. Now, extend your Athame/Index Finger and either walk around the circumference of the circle counter clockwise, starting from East going to North, West, South, spin around in the same manner. While doing this visualise bluish energy coming out of your Athame/Index Finger.

Say:

"Round and Round the Circle will go

Permitting Magick to come and go.

This is the time that I create Sacred Space

Right here now, In this very Place."

Once you have visualised the circle forming, outstretch your arms beside you and move them up so they meet above your head. Visualise the circle forming a semisphere above you. Then do the same but going down and visualise the circle cut into the ground.

Say;

"As above, and so below, The Circle is now ready to go."

Now it is time to call the Elements into the circle as well as the Goddess and God.

Face East and Visualise Bluish energy coming from the Bowl of water, or from the ocean.

Saying;

"Guardians of the East, Home of Water. The Great Ocean and rivers that give life to all. I ask thee now to come into this circle and guard all those within this great fine night."

Do the same for Fire. Visualise Red energy coming from the Candle

"Guardians of the North, Home of Fire. The Sun and the spark of life within us. I ask thee now to come into this circle and guard all within this night."

Visualise Green Energy coming from the Earth and Trees

"Guardians of the West, Home of Earth. The Ground Beneath our feet and the Earth on which all life comes from and returns to. I ask thee now to come into this circle and guard all within this great fine night"

Visualise Yellow Energy coming from the Air

"Guardians of the South, Home of Air. The air that lets us all breathe. I ask thee now into this circle and guard all within this great fine night."

Now, time to ask the Goddess and God to come to the Circle. Visualise White energy forming from everywhere and forming around the circle.

 Saying;

"Blessed Lady, Mistress of Old. I ask you to come to this circle to watch over the Magick performed within in Love and Light. Ancient Lord. Protector of All. I ask you to come into this circle to watch over the Magick performed within in Strength and Might."

Go back to the middle of the Circle and visualise All the Elements and the Goddess and God energies at the circle.

Say;

"The Circle is done, But the Magick within has only begun."

Closing the Circle

Stand back in the middle of the circle. It is now time to bid farewell to the Goddess and God.

Visualise the White energy dissipating back to everywhere.

Saying;

"Blessed Lady, Ancient Lord. I thank you for coming to our circle and watching over all those within/me. May we part in peace, and return in truth, love and light."

Thank you and Blessed Be

Now it is time to Bid farewell to the Elements.

Face East and visualise the Bluish energy of Water going back to the ocean/bowl.

Say:

"Elements of the East, Home of Water. I thank thee for coming to the circle this night. May we part in peace, and return in love and Light."

Blessed Be.

Face South and visualise the Yellowish energy going back to the Air.

Say;

"Elements of the South, Home of Air. I thank thee for coming to the circle this night. May we part in peace and return in light."

Thank you and Blessed Be

Face West and visualise the Green energy going back to the Earth/Salt.

Say;

"Elements of the West, Home of Earth. I thank thee for coming to the circle this night. May we part in peace and may you return in light."

Thank you and Blessed Be

Face North and visualise the Red energy going back to the Sun/Candle.

Say;

"Elements of the North, Home of Fire. I thank thee for coming to the circle this night May we part in peace, and return in light."

Thank you and Blessed Be.

Now walk/spin around the outside of the circle imagining your index finger/Athame cutting the circle and then the circle dissipating back to you and the earth.

Say;

"Round and Round I spin, Closing the Circle and keeping this place near, I now leave this place, But I will definitely return in Grace".

So Mote it Be
