Magickal Tool Consecration

Once you have purchased a Magickal Tool, you will need to consecrate it, ready for use in ritual. A simple consecration ritual is given below as a guide, but do feel free to modify and adapt this to your own preferences.

Have Salt (or a crystal) and Water (not tap) ready in small Bowls, Candle, Incense and Censer, and a suitable Oil (depicting spirit) on the altar ready:

1. Prepare yourself by having a Ritual Bath.

2. Ground yourself.

3. Cast circle.

4. Call on elements in turn at the appropriate quarter (starting with Air - East and moving round clockwise (deosil) to Earth - North) and ask for their blessings and energy.

5. Call on the Goddess and God in turn in whichever aspects you know them best (it is preferable if possible to call on aspects which match from the same pantheons, such as Isis and Osiris, Kali and Shiva, etc) and ask for their blessings and energy.

6. Pass the item through the incense smoke (if it is large you may move the censer around it and blow smoke over it as well as you do this), Saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Air." As you do this visualize winds blowing over the item, removing any impurities.

7. Pass the item through a candle flame, Saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Fire." As you do this visualize fire caressing the item around its edges, burning away any impurities.

8. Sprinkle the item with water, Saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Water." As you do this visualize water flowing over and around the item, washing away any impurities.

9. Sprinkle the item with salt, or touch the crystal to it, Saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Earth." As you do this visualize the item being surrounded with earth, absorbing any impurities.

10. Anoint the item with oil, Saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Spirit." As you do this visualize gold light imbuing itself in the item.

11. Thank and say farewell to the God and Goddess.

12. Thank and say farewell to the elements (in reverse from North anti-clockwise (widdershins) to East).

13. Open circle.

You may wish to wrap items which are not being left on an altar in silk, to preserve the charge on them.

Do Not allow anyone else to handle your magickal tools.
