French Brandied Apple Crisp

6 tart apples Granny Smiths (I like to use 2 kinds of apples )
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 C. Brandy

Topping:

3/4 C. sifted white flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 Tbsp. softened butter
1/2 C. chopped Pecans or Walnuts
1/2 C. granulated sugar

Preheat oven too 350 degrees.

Peel, core & slice apples into a bowl.
Mix with sugar, spices & lemon juice. Melt butter over medium heat & saute apple mixture for about 5 mins. then add the Brandy. Flame the Brandy when it is warm.

Place apple mixture in a 1 quart baking dish & make the topping. Blend flour, sugar, salt & butter together until it becomes a crumble, mix in the nuts & cover the apple mixture with the crumbs.

Bake 40 mins. or until apples are tender & crust
has browned.

Serve with vanilla ice cream
