Anybody own a featherbed? If you do, do you like it and recommend me to buy one? Joanna

Ah, Joanna, you found my bedroom. Don't you just love it in here! I hate getting up in the mornings and look forward to crawling back in bed at night. When my husband comes home from traveling, he always says how good it feels to get back in his own bed.  Joanna, I was divorced for over 10 years, raising my older daughter on my own with no financial assistance--even though I was suppose to be getting it. LOL  Anyway, I really had to watch my pennies. I bought a used mattress for $25. It had stains, no real support, etc. But, I just put a mattress cover over it . Well, when I got married 24 years ago come March 25, we continued to use that same mattress. We let my older daughter use the one my husband (never married) used before we married, since it was a full and mine a queen.  I tend to not want to throw anything away til it is truly trash. Well, the mattress springs finally began digging in my back. So, we bought a lovely brand new mattress. Then I also discovered HSN and bought a feather bed, down comforters, etc.  You know, I had always wanted a feather bed ever since I was a little girl and slept in one at my grandparent's home that my grandmother made from feathers saved from chickens we ate. So, finally all these years later I now have my feather bed and love it.  Luckily so does my husband. My sister's former husband had polio as a child, always had to sleep on a rock hard mattress. So, I guess you need to discuss it with your husband. I would have flannel sheets on our bed if my husband didn't object. So, I've gone the next closest step--use those jersey knit sheets. We also finally bought a lovely bedroom set a few years back. It has marble tops like my grandparent's had. I change the bedspreads spring and fall. I'm in to water gardening so have everything Monet.Gee, I guess it won't be much longer now til I'll be putting the spring one back on.  I sometimes ask myself why do I bother even making the bed because about the first thing my husband does when he gets home, usually around 5:30 pm, is turn down the bed covers. He says he does it then because he is usually too tired to bother with it later since I insist on having so many pillows on it. LOL  I have a friend, just turned 69, that puts all her stuffed animals on their bed. When her husband turns down their bed, he just pulls down the cover with all the stuffed creatures on it. LOL  Hey, they are talking about feather beds on HSN now! I bought all my stuff when they were TS's. Actually, I've seen basically the same things on sale locally. Trouble is though I don't care to get out much and by the time I do, either the stuff is sold out or the sale is over. OK, I need to get back to chores but feel free to stay in here as long as you like. LOL

Hi Joanna,
This may be too late but I just found your question about the feather bed.  I recently purchased one and I love it!!!!  I have fractured my spine twice andf have to sleep on a hard mattress.  Since I have gotten older, I have been waking with more aches and pains.  The feather bed has lessened my aches.  One problem, you may not ever want to get out of bed again!

HI JUDY!!
I came here to welcome a new guest and saw you were in my bedroom. LOL  It is great to see you posting. And, I can't blame you for liking it in here. I wouldn't mind staying here more, if I didn't have so darn many chores to do. I haven't seen Joanna here in a while but know she is around. My goodness, how did you manage to fracture your spine twice?! I've never fractured mine but still find myself waking with more aches and pains.  Of course, I go to bed with them too. You certainly are right about maybe never wanting to get out of bed! My husband has been having to travel a lot lately. He really enjoys being able to get back in his own bed. Ours is like the beds you might find at a fancy bed and breakfast. OK, I better get that new guest welcomed and get back to my laundry--which by the way always causes me back pains.
