Pain, this is a pain.

I did not intend to start this page on your site as an automobile troubleshooting site; but may be able to help a few novices and will be happy to help if possible.

I have owned many cars since I started driving, most were General Motors. My present baby (which I still drive) is a 1981 Cadillac Eldorado 8-6-4 with a fuel injected variable displacement engine. It is the first all metric American automobile, and will someday be declared an American classic (don't hold your breath).

I do not pretend to know all there is about cars, but I do have over 40 years of experience of trying to keep cars running, and this includes cars with computers.
I am not trying to run this on my own, I do have access to other people with a wealth of information. I am ready to start answering questions on automobiles. With enough participation, I will set up a data base of question and answers, which someday may be available and searchable by all.

The thing people need to remember is that foreign cars are really no different; in fact they are copies of American cars. All cars are basically the same; they only vary by the state of the technology. In diagnosing problems, one's knowledge of the different technologies on the cars they drive is most important. More information on what is needed to aid in diagnosing problem will be developed as time goes by.
