I'm just testing some of the features of our new  web camera. I used the save feature to post this.  Ron isn't too happy with the resolution/quality, considering he paid over $230 for the camera.  But, I used the zoom feature to take this, makes the pic a little more blurry.  We're going to see how well we can see after dark, with just what little light we now have out there.  I'm just anxious to get the site created and on the internet so you can see too. . The deer is licking our salt block. I want to move that block to somewhere else, not sure where yet.  In the summer that's where I put my tub water garden.

That looks good, just a little blurry, like you said it was from using the zoom feature..It sure does take in a nice panaramic view. It looks cold there..Our temps have been the high 70's and mid 80's here..

The camera has some neat features. It has camera patrol, auto pan, and motion detection.  It pans back and forth and up and down.  I guess those controls can be set to be used just by us and/or by visitors.  Of course, the camera wasn't meant to cover 5 acres. LOL  Ron claims it can also capture the images on video, like I did that pic on camera. But, I haven't discovered that feature yet.  The lighting we have isn't sufficient after dark though, can't see anything.  So, Ron is going to look around for different lighting. Right now what is out there is just a security light and some little clear Christmas lights.  I have a feeling though that we get more activity here during the day than during the night.  The weather has been warmer here the last couple of days.  I'm not sure, think maybe in the 50's.  But, we had a lot of snow to melt.  I'll be glad when more snow melts so I can walk the acreage.  I need to get some sun.

So near and yet so far. LOL I wish we had it up and going so you could see what I see. At times it is like a scene from Bambi. Of course, it will probably look better this spring/summer when everything is green.  Right now everything is blah/dead. But, it's still fun to watch all the critters.  This morning I asked Ron why did he have the camera focused on the driveway. He said he was trying to capture the sunrise.  But, the camera is too far under the eave to pan up that far.  Ron has gone to look for a camera mount and better lights.  He has pork ribs going in the crockpot, smells so good.  I doubt he's going to get much done on this project today because there are two football games on.  But, there is a tv right here by the computer. Soooooooo, lol, he could do both. He says he doesn't know how to get the site started on the internet.  Bruce says there is a provider programmed in to the software Ron bought. But, Ron hasn't found it yet and the instruction booklet that came with it is very limited. Knowing Ron though it will get done.  He always figures things out eventually.

Well, he didn't find what he wanted. He says he'll have to design his own camera mount so it will do what he wants it to do.  Now he has put the camera out on the back deck. It covers a lot but doesn't cover all the pond, can't see the bridge. He wants it to see the mountains too but there are too many trees in the way.

Hi..It looks like it's going to be more of a project then Ron bargined for..but I bet he will figure it all out..I was hoping when I came in last night that it would all be set up and ready to go..LOL I didn't post then because I was so tired..

George and I went to the Gift Show in Los Angeles yesterday..You wouldn't believe all the beautiful things they had there..Beautiful Furniture, dishes, nicnac's, alot of jewelry, clothes, toys, etc. They sell to retailers mostly and prefer to sell in bulk, but some will also sell to individuals. Because of the economy, they didn't get the crowd they were hoping for and reduced the prices on alot of things. They have bus shuttles to transport people to different buildings..so we had many bus and elevater rides going from one place to another and were on our feet for hours..LOL I was worn out and so was George..We thought someone stole our car, but we were on the wrong street..dahhh, but some nice worker helped us find it, thank goodness. I came home and went to bed..They have these shows twice a year, three days each..This is the second one I have been to and I always say, I'm not going back!!.LOL

Oh wow, that Gift Show sounds neat.  My local friends and I used to go to similar things. And, Noelle and I used to hit all the craft shows.  I went to WalMart today, so am pooped.  I still haven't put everything away, just the perishables.  It was so windy.  When I came out, the wind caught some of the stuff in my basket. I had to go running after them but then noticed the wind had caught my basket and it was heading towards a fancy car.  The woman was yelling at me to not let it hit their car. LOL So, I got my cart situated and then went trying to recover my things blowing all over the parking lot.  I had trouble standing up and it felt like the wind was going to rip my hair right out of my scalp.  WalMart is already gearing up for spring/summer, getting out their barbecues, gardening things, etc. I can relate to you thinking someone stole your car.  Several years ago I went to a shopping mall.  I went in one entrance but got turned around and came out a different entrance.  I was searching all over the wrong parking area for my car.  I finally realized the problem, went back in and went out the correct entrance.  Soooooo, did you buy anything?

Well yes, it is quite a project. But, also I think Ron tends to make things more involved than necessary, because he is an engineer and a perfectionist.  He did buy a camera mount today.  It isn't quite what he wanted but he said he is going to modify it.  I think I'm going to have to ask Bruce some things, like how he went about creating his domain.  Ron sent an email to the company that makes the software he bought. But, they haven't replied.  Ron hasn't figured out yet how to get the camera to talk to the program.  It is so maddening to be able to see it on our computer but can't get it on the internet for others to see.  I'll see things out there and tell myself I wish Glenda could see it too. LOL Now mind you, it isn't all going to be set up the way we want it when we first get going.  But, heck, I guess Bruce has had his on line since 2001 and he is still having problems. Ours will cover more than Raccoon Cam and Bruce's.  The acreage is a mess right now, especially after today with all the wind we had.  Oh, and we still have only one camera, so can't cover the front and back at the same time.  But, the pond is looking blah right now anyway, will look better this summer.  I think Ron's eventually  going to make me a feeding station somewhat like the Raccoon Cam one, to put on our front fence.
