Directions
In Dutch oven, combine all ingredients except mashed potato
flakes; mix well. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat,
stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 5 to
10 minutes or until cabbage is almost tender. Remove Dutch
oven from heat. Stir in mashed potato flakes.
I often substitute leftover corned beef or brisket, smkd ham for the sausage or use about 1.5 times the weight in ham hocks. I also thinly slice a small onion after cutting it in 1/2 1st and add it with the cabbage.
You can also substitute a bottle of Beer for 1/2 the water. ( I tend to use Killians for it as it adds a nice flavor )
