I've been playing around with backgrounds and found a tutorial for making something similar to my outside border. You got this pattern after doing one of the steps in the tutorial. I decided I liked it so saved it as a background, then went on to complete the tutorial.

This center background was made using a different tutorial. I forget if I left a link for it but I'll have to go find it and change the colors since this really doesn't go that well with my outside border. The middle border is just a plain color used for the start of my outside border.
I wanted to see how this outside border would look in the groups before I make anything else to go with it.

Here's a link to the tutorial for the outside background. It was written using PSP6 I believe so you have to improvise.Instead of going to Image>>Effects, you go to Effects>>Texture Effects>>Blinds.
And Effects>>Texture Effects>> Mosaic Glass.
Instead of Image>>Effects>>Patterns you go to Effects>>Reflection Effects>>Patterns.

My border was made after adding the Mosaic Glass effect.
I'll reply to this thread and show you what the finished background looks like.
BTW, I used #F0DFE9 as my flood fill color>>
#381A30 as the dark shade for the first effect
#613A57 as the medium shade for the second effect.

This is the finished background.
I put a plain white background in the center of it to type in.

I thought I'd show you the effect you get with the second step in that tutorial. The border in this table was made after applying the blinds horizontal effect. I saved this too because I thought it was interesting.
The center border is basically my border in the first thread but I applied another filter to it>>
Effects>>Plug In Filters>>Simple>>Diamonds

I'm not sure if you can get the full effect of what I made since I've got 2 tables going here, lol.

I'm still playing around with backgrounds. I found a pretty floral arangement with purples in it and thought it might look nice as a background tile. I'm not sure I like the background I made though.

The plaid background was used taking the floral pictures and adding filters to it to give it a diamond plaid effect/

Now I think I have too much color, lol.

I'm still making backgrounds. I'm about ready to call it quits for today cause I just can't seem to make up my mind what I want to use for a combination.
