Feel free to link to this tutorial or print it out for your own personal use. Any similarities to other tutorials found on the web are unintentional. This was written after learning different techniques for making plaids in PSP7.
I'm using 2 colors for this plaid. White and a dark blue #4a5a8e. Feel free to use these colors.
Set your foreground to the main color of your choice. I used #4a5a8e.
Set your background to white or your second color choice.
Open a new image, 10x100 with color #4a5a8e
Add a border by going to Image>>Add borders
and use these settings>>
Top 0
Left 0
Right 1
Bottom 0
Symmetric not checked
Right click in the color box and change your color to white.
Go to Image>>Add Borders and change your settings to>>
Top 0
Left 0
Right 4
Bottom 0
Symmetric not checked
Click in your color box to change the color back to blue (#4a5a8e)
Go to Image>>Add borders>> and change your setting to>>
Top 0
Left 0
Right 1
Bottom 0
Symmetric unchecked
Change the color back to white (see above)
Go to Image>>Add borders>> and change your settings to>>
Top 0 Left )
Right 2
Bottom 0
Symmetric unchecked
Change the color back to blue #4a5a8e
Your image should now look like this
Minimize your stripes and open a new transparent image 100x100
Change your foreground settings to pattern by left clicking on the color circle, then clicking on the pattern circle.
Left click in the pattern box. This will bring up a screen where you can find your stripe pattern. Use the down arrow to find your stripes and click ok.
Now flood fill your new image with the stripe pattern.
You should have an image that looks like this.
Hit shift D to duplicate this image.
Rotate the duplicate image by going to >>
Image>>Rotate>>Free Rotate
Then choose these settings>>
Direction Left
Degrees 90
All layers unchecked
Now you'll have 2 images that look like this.
Go to Image>>Arithmetic
and choose these settings
Image #1 and Image #2 will be your two flood filled stripes.
Once you apply these settings you'll end up with an imagine that looks like this.
You can use this plaid as a border for a background or frame.
