and so as the knuckleheads!!!

I will try to make it as G-rated as much as I can. The thing about where I work at is it's so close to neighborhoods with kids and now that it has started to get warm in here, it's really going to be hard to drive around the city. Not because of traffic but because of knuckleheads like I encountered on my way home. 6:30 pm, the sun's still up so everyone's out to play. When I was driving, these kids were bicycling all oer the road and won't stay off the streets (do they actaully think I will hit them and clima personal injury lol?) I was honking the horn a few times before they'd clear the streets. The next street over, more kids playing around throwing football passes with each other. I almost had an accident in my rental truck because someone from  somewhere else threw the ball and I almost hit someone running backwards to get the ball.

GGGRRRRRRRRRR. I know I shouldn't sweat these things coz they might be just minor things for other people. But these kids need to be told by their PARENTS ( or guardians) to stay off the street when a vehicle is passing. But NOOOOOOO. I'm a very watchful and safe driver but that doesn't matter if someone else causes the accident, like getting run over! I know the legalities of these things and know that I 'm not at fault. But these things are the same reason why car insurance is sky high, esp in Maryland. Oh you don't want me to go there lol!

Okay, I'm off my soap box. Thanks to anyone that paid attention to my rant tonite and pls. feel free to express yourself.

I don't drive myself but understand exactly how you feel, not only do the kids here play on the roads they presume that any drivers will drive around them, they don't even bother to move out of the way when a car is coming.
A couple of years ago a 7 year old boy and his two older brothers were playing 'chicken' (running across the road just as a car is coming ) unfortunately the little one didn't run fast enough and was knocked down. The outcome was that this child will never walk again and is set to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
The poor man who was driving the car has never driven since, he is so scared that it could happen again he won't risk driving. These kids don't have any idea what happens to the drivers of cars that knock them down when they are playing their dangerous games.
The latest craze here is if a fire engine is in the area  kids will jump on the back of it just as it is being driven away, the firemen can't see them once they have driven off and there have already been a few accidents where they have fallen off, in fact one child was killed, they just don't see the dangers.
When my grandson comes to my house I watch him like a hawk, in fact I have only just started letting him cross the road by himself to go to the park after he said  "I am 10 grandma, I do know how to cross a road"  ooooops, maybe I am a bit over protective, but he's very precious and I wouldn't want him to get hurt.
What happened to the days when the only danger to a child playing out was climbing trees and falling off.
Thats me off my soap box too.

Oh Babs, I'm 35 and I'm still afraid of crossing the streets....

I still find it hard that some kids today are so hard-headed and won't listen. I agree with what you said about the drivers that were not at fault hitting a person esp. a child. It's very traumatic even just getting in a car accident with another car, it's triple nerve wrecking when you actually hit a child! Thanks for your info hon. Have a good day!
