Not accepted by strangers,
Though in a crowd, she was alone.
Night would come and she would sleep.
She would think, "tomorrow I go home."
Tomorrow after tomorrow left her empty.
Her brown eyes would swell with tears.
She did not know her family would never come.
Her heart was overcome by a multitude of fears.
What was the reason for the rejection?
She was beautiful, young, and storng.
Yet the golden haired lovely was not happy.
Enjoying life to the fullest would only mean...
to belong.
I toohad nearly given up the search.
Then one day, late in the evening we met.
Not impressed with others I'd seen,
Now it was only Ruffles on whom my heart was set
"People and dogs resemble each other."
True! There passed only a short time for me to see
That the Golden Retriever, in the rabbit
sized cage,
Had been, in a great many ways, exactly like me.
