  • Take deep breaths.
Taking a few deep breaths can effectively lessen stress. If enables you to get oxygen into your lungs, causing you and your whole body to calm down. It definitely clears my mind off any unpleasantries. Having a 3-5 mins. breaks at work just to take some deep breaths help me to move on to a more challenging task.

  •  Clip those "feel-good articles" and use them in your  scrapbooks or send them to family and friends.

I clip articles that are worth saving for future sends to my family and friends. I also made use of them in all the scrapbooking projects I have. Even the smallest or oddest articles in the newspapers or magazines can make someone smile!

  •  Go outside for a few minutes, even stretch while catching some sun.

This is a great way of warding off any feelings of sadness, stress, tension, and low energy. Being at work 8-10 hrs can  increase someone's tension and trigger stress; just the same for all stay-at-home spouses. Getting that sun even just for a few mins. everyday can start off your day fresh. As for me that sees hurting and sick patients all the time, it's a good way or relieving all the stress and "pains" that I see all day long.

  •  Indulge in chocolates, a small piece go a long way.

I keep chocolates handy, not only because I need it sometimes when my sugar levels drop; it also helps in releasing the "feel-good hormones" in our body. You don't have to eat the whole bar; just a little piece will do. Besides, I've seen my patients' faces light up when they see some candies (not just chocolates) on my candy dish at work---it's almost like a miracle drug against their pain lol.

  • Cuddle up with your significant other, chicldren, or with your furry friend(s).

No need to explain that! We're social creatures and need to cuddle. I have a zoo (including Chuck lol) waiting for me at home, just can't wait to cuddle with me in front of the TV.

  • Lastly, be thankful!

It always helps to write down notes of thanks for every single thing. Having a heart filled with gratitude lightens up your daily burden and brings sunshine even on the darkest days. Having a journal and writing down simple things I'm thankful for and reading it later reminds me that I can't complain, instead just feel totally blessed for all that I have.
