The loud banging opening chords of Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" sound over the arena speakers as the fans turn their attention towards the stage. The opening verse of the song plays, as the 'tron above the stage showcases various clips of Matlock in interviews, backstage and posing. As the song begins to pick up, more clips of in-ring action are shown on the screen, as Matlock, along with his fiance' appear at the top of the ramp. Matt steps out and poses on the stage. As the chorus starts to play, pyro shoots up from the stage and then all the way down the ramp. Matt stands on the stage a moment, as Jessie comes down to meet him. They proceed down the ramp to the bottom as the chrous comes to an end. Matt gets close to one of the ringside cameramen, and looks into the camera as he mouths the last line of the chorus, "you know my name", as his name flashes all over the 'tron. He heads into the ring now, as Jessie stands in his corner. Matt paces around the ring, posing and taunting all the while. As the song comes up on the second chorus, he heads for the top and stretches his arms to his side as pyro similar to that of HBK blasts in the ring. As Matt lowers his arms the pyro subsides, and as he steps down to look towards the stage, awaiting his opponents for the evening.

Style: Methodical/Powerful/Aggressive.Matt takes his time and tries to think each step through. He tries to feel out his opponent's game plan before he enacts his own. At other times though he may just use all of his weight and go balls to the wall trying to overpower his opponent. If he's getting rather hot headed or has a lot of momentum, he'll just go flat out aggressive until he's stopped. As well, despite what many think, Matlock has a lot of knowledge of the business at such a young age. He doesn't really have a "comfort zone" because he doesn't stay in one zone for very long. If during the match someone catches on to him and starts to out-do him, Matt will pull something completely unexpected out of the bag and use that strategy to get the advantage back.
He mainly mixes Steve Austin's Brawling, along with Chris Benoit's technical ability, along with the speed and some of the power of The Undertaker. Toss in some old finished illegal holds for good measure.

Character Background: One of the more high profile stars in the wrestling industry for the past six years, Matt Matlock was always at the forefront of things in any company. Whether being criticized for contracting himself out to many companies, missing dates, lacking effort in title matches, or putting on blockbuster performances at other times that made the crowd rise to their feet, everyone should know who Matlock is. Earlier this year he achieved his career pinnacle by defeating friend/partner/rival David Van Dam for the ICWA Heavyweight Championship, at a pay per view that was named after him "Howl of The Wolf". However things soon came apart as Matlock's long time in competition with seldom a break, his newfound love life with manager Jessica Winters, as well as his father's back surgery and subsequent recovery took their toll. Although never officially announced it was generally assumed Matlock had retired from the business. But you can't keep a good man down. With the recent announcement of the closure of the MSN Network, a savage fire that destroyed his personal wrestling archive, and the offer of being rehired at several companies he had long since thought dead, it would appear "The Cornered Animal" is set to come back to his home.
