From the Artist Re: Kattitude Images
Hey there everybody:
I'm glad to be here again, and also sorry for the confusion about the Kattitude images. What I meant to say in my TOU page, is that if you have old Kattitude tags with her copyright, you don't need to delete them at all, and I give my permission to keep using them. Now, the confusing part is: what is the correct copyright for the new tags that I make with images that used to be Kattitude's? Those images fall into the same category as any other image in my portfolio. In other words, they're no different than any other toon (or pinup) of my website, and they follow the same rules. As many of you know, I don't even ask for a copyright note in the tags done with my artwork, but if you must or want to place one (as the majority of groups require), the correct copyright is "Popeye Wong", nothing else is needed. Notes like "Made for Kattitude", "Commissioned by Jaimi Standifird", etc., are strictly optional, and I don't ask anybody to write that (it makes no difference to me). Not even my website info is needed in tags. One easier way to bypass the Kattitude/Popeye Wong copyright issue, is to remember that there aren't any images done by me, which are still under Kattitude's copyright. Any image that you see in my website, new or old, carries the same copyright (Popeye Wong).
The case of the Tinkerbelle-like image is a special one, since you can't find that image in my website. The reason is nothing related to the issue of Kattitude, but a possible Disney conflict. I did that image a while ago, as a gift for Kattitude, based on the original Tinkerbelle (even the pose is similar). The reason why I don't post it in my website, is because there might be an issue, since I sell prints of my artwork, and it could be misinterpreted as me making money with a Disney character rip-off (and as you know, that's a very delicate area). That's the only reason why I don't post it in my website (I might do it someday). Now, I still give permissions to taggers to use that Tinkerbelle-like image and even pass the tube around, since what you do is not for profit. The image was indeed drawn and colored by me, and it's just based in Tinkerbelle, so rest assured that there's no problem at all using it. There are a couple of other images that I created along with Kattitude, that are not included in my website, not because of copyright issues, but just because they didn't fit in any of my portfolios (I might upload those images to my website in the future).
Well, time to go. I know this matter may be confusing, so please don't hesitate to ask any further questions. Thanks Happy for the heads up, I'm always glad to clarify any doubts. I like to make my artwork easy to use, so it remains as a fun hobby to make tags, and not a job. Keep up the great work and bye for now!
Pops.
