For those of you contemplating this surgery, or know anyone who is, please read this before deciding:-

This just adds to my doubts about the technique, doubts that started when I realised that having this done does not stop the eyesight from deteriorating further since this is only "putting a patch on the problem" and not tackling the cause.

I have seen first hand Laser Surgery, My Daughter wore bottle botton thick glasses since she was 7 years old, to her is was natural to wear them after she grew up about 18 she got contact lenses wore thse for a few years and heard of Dr. Raymond  Stein one of the pioneers of Laser surgery for cateracts and such.
Daughter decided to check this out we all went with her to a information meeting that is or was hels twice a wek then, she was examined by Dr, stein Jr to se if she was suitable for this technique.   She was and she went one afternoon he Dad went to watch sha had both eyes done,  up to now when she woke in morning first thing she felt for was glasses, the night of surgery she had to waken every three hours and use eye drops. Next morning I heard the best words I have ever heard Mum I can see the clock it is 8:15am that clock was on a wall yjay she could not see with out glasses before.  That was aprox 20 yrs ago she has had both eyes redone once and has yearly checkup but same Doctor. she now wears no lenses no glasses her vision was - 15 and is now .20.20. I must stress this is not for everyone find a good eye surgeon and find out, That is essential, Some one who does corneal surgeryand such.
My daughter has not even a tiny scratch on her eyes.

You don't know how happy I am that the proceedure has worked out so well in both of your stories.

The problem spoken of here, however, does not show up until MUCH later in life, so, if lucky it may never arise.  On the other hand, however.............
