It started in 2003,  a bad year for our family, in February My Husband for almost 50 years died. Needless to say none of our very small family even thought of going far for holidays. We four, Mother,  Daughter, and Son and his Daughter that is all there is now. We always went to Lake Rousseau last week of School Holidays. We always rebooked at end of each holiday.  It was a good week and in some ways helped us all.
My Son and Daughter had been saving for quite some time for the Fiftieth Wedding
Anniversary,  When that day came that year 2003 they gave it to me, in that bank was close to $20,000.00. I wanted them to keep their money but neither would so I left it in the bank.  At the time I was member of chat room and had met many people funy, friendly and always ready to help.  The year passed and all the firsts with out Dad. the holiday in August helped us.

2004 started another unkind year, I lost a dear chat friend whi died 11 days after the First Anniversary of Hugh's death, Bics had lost his dear wife just 11 days before Hugh died he and I had helped each other along that first year, Then Bics left us in February 2004 ,  Neither knew Cancer raised it's ugly head, so my family had another year of worry to face.
Then I made up my mind.   I called a family meeting all four and said we are going on a holiday to Scotland, so all write down what you want to see. Tell Gordon (son),and he will plan our trip, then I said I want the best of hotels and here is the money, I gave him back the bank book. I felt it was a good way to use this money, Carole said this was for you and Dad, I answered what better way than spend it on all. The youngest was already listing all the Castles Samantha wanted to see. While there, I made arrangements to meet met a lady friend I had knownfor quite a while,in a chat room we were in Kelso in the Borders which I love. She came to meet us and we had a quiet dinner  lovely a meeting, we  are still friends.
Now as we were going to be in Stirling I asked one of my chat friends if he would meet me for dinner at the Hotel Gordon had chosen.   Well our meeting in Stirling was towards the end of holiday, during which I caught cold and with red nose and streaming eyes I went bravely to meet this gentleman family insisted on staying in case I felt so bad I had to leave. I did not leave but poor man faced with four strangers instead of just one, I hate to think what crossed his mind. He was much as I expected a very pleasant person who looked like a friend before we even spoke.  We had a very pleasant dinner Gordon found the gentleman very interesting we all did, I personally felt I had known him as a friend for much longer.
The best part is we are still friends to this day.  I sincerely hope we stay that way.
