For 100 - When the Dominant Male dies, the Dominant Female will keep her status approximately this percent of the time.

For 200 - Name and explain the three most common forms of foraging competition.

What are:

Blocking: Meerkat places its body between the food item/hole and competitor, or growls at
the competitor.

Pushing: Similar to blocking but with sustained physical contact between the competing
individuals.

Fighting: Meerkat bites the other in an attempt to win the food item.

For 300 - These Whiskers were evicted during December of 2007 (just their names will do).

Who are Finn, Miss Lilly the Pink, and Ju Drop? (I was actually just looking for the ladies evicted from the actual Whiskers mob, but I learned something new, too!)

For 400 - Fur color in meerkats can range from silver to orange to brown, depending on subspecies and this other factor.

Good evening! Sorry I'm late posting scores, but I was quilting the donation quilt. I got a lot done, now just have some of the artsy stuff to do.

Welcome Quirkies and Honored Guests. I thought I would post these early. They are a mix of older questions for new members to learn the basics and questions from some different sources. There are no videos required for these, so it should be fair to all.

I was looking for 4, but accepted 3-4

For 200, In how many countries does Meerkat Manor air (as of December 2006)?

67 The key word was Dec. 2006. It may be up to 160 now.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Molly Moshi is DF and Shaka is DM.

For 400, According to Andrew Young, what percentage of subordinate offspring is accounted for by extra-group mating (male roving) and what did researchers originally think these roving trips were for?

70% and they thought roving was an attempt to disperse and find their own territory. I gave partial or full credit if you were close.

For 500, According to Alex Thornton, what is the main reason why teaching evolved in meerkats?

The article said the main reason teaching evolved is that young pups rarely find difficult prey items themselves. I gave partial credit here if you were close but had obviously not gotten to the site I found.

For a juicy scorpion, explain what this dye mark would look like: RS+MBL.

I was looking for right shoulder and horizontal mid back line. I didn't give partial credit for this since RS is a gimme.
