The serious business of foraging gets underway. With Flower away Rocket Dog takes over and with fewer members, 20, it makes things easier and the pantry stretches farther. But Surprisingly Len is getting more food than Squiggy.

The once mighty Whiskers are divided. Separated for almost a month it looks like a permanent group split. Flower and her group of 20 spent the night in an old burrow. Flower is doing all she can to protect the group but also has to deal with her own pregnancy. This time even Flower is at the mercy of the elements.
Two miles away the other half of the Whiskers are also trying to cope. Weather isn’t the only worry for RD as new DomF she needs to keep the rest in check. The first weeks are most critical for new a DF. Not only is she pregnant for first time, Maybelline and Daisy are also expecting. Under stress the boss has her work cut out trying to cope with everything. She leads them off in search of vital provisions. Little food is found. The gang is not having much luck and it’s been days since they had a decent meal. The dry condition has sent prey deep underground. RD needs to lead the group away from their over harvested dry patch.

Half a mile away the Zappa are up to no good. Handsome Houdini and Feisty Punk have successfully turned their group around. They are brazenly breaching the Whiskers borders and are much closer than they should be and have brought along their pups: Axel, Slash and Rose for their first taste of plundered prey.
The Whiskers are taking the day at a leisurely pace. They’ve gone from daily struggles to lazing around content and full. Full of energy Busta and Suggs are playfighting and their lively antics are catching on and most of the gang joins in including Flower. The boss can let her fur down once in a while but experience has taught her not to let her guard down long and with good reason, Flower spots the Zappa.
The Zappa move in and take a stance on a high dune but they wish they hadn’t.
Facing Flower for the first time since the Whiskers regrouped Houdini doesn’t fancy rubbing up to Flower in war mode.

Mitch climbs high and finds the trail of the Whiskers. But something is stalking him. He finds himself in the middle of two angry plouvers who are nesting. They think Mitch is after their eggs. By the time he gets away he’s lost the Whiskers trail and must rely on his sense of direction to get him back on track.
Half a mile away the Whiskers are pinned in by an eagle overhead. They dare not venture out by every minute could mean they will lose the pups. But could they already be too late?
Back at the burrow with Sophie and pups, a strange meerkats appears. It’s Melanie Zappa and evicted Zappa female. Sophie and Jogu anxiously scent mark the burrow. Jogu however is beginning to appreciate the attractive, elegant and unattached female.
As Mel retreats, Jogu follows his hormones. If he plays his cards right he may be an adult meerkat by sundown. Sophie is left to care for the pups alone.

Zaphod is sticking to Flower. A kat like Houdini that can infiltrate a large gang may prove to have the kind of genes it takes to be a Dom-M.

Finally Kinkaju leads the family home from foraging, they check for Carlos in the burrow. He is nowhere to be seen. This is one more problem for Kinkaju to deal with. They bravely wait in hope for him to appear but chances are fading with the light.

Up early the next morning the group is dealing with an irritating problem, parasites. There’s a real possibility of infection or disease and the burrow is no longer fit for habitation. Rocket Dog instigates a burrow move which is risky at best with 7 pups to transport. To insure no one goes missing Rocket Dog carefully scent marks each pup in turn. The last time she was in control Len and Squiggy (Ren and Stumpy) died. This time she’s not taking any chances. This is the first test of RD’s leadership.
