Bad news, and suspecious circumstances....My mom's black Lab, Sassy (Angel's Mom) died...She got loose and we couldn't find her until the next day...my dad found her around the block on the side of the road dead...at first we thought she had been hit by a car (which happens in my area way too much)...but when they brought the body home for burial and I looked it over, I noticed that the only part of her body sustaining injuries was her head...No road rash, not even a scratch on the rest of her body...It looked like someone had taken a blunt object (shovel, etc) and hit her in the head...and my dad and brother said from the way her body was positioned on the side of the road, it looked like she was crawling....so my suspecious mind from the evidence had come up with the theory that she got loose, wondered past the neighbor that killed Angel and Rajah, he smacked her upside her head, knocking her unconscious and then took her to the wooded area (across from where she was found, possibly the same place he took Angel and Rajah's bodies, she came to and tried to crawl home, but past away from head injuries....We had a dog hit by a car in the past, she wasn't killed but sustained a lot of road rash from it so its seems to be strange and unsettlingly that Sassy would have been hit by a car and only sustain head injuries...We went from 5 dogs to only 1...(our pug was taken by my uncle's widow, Angel and Rajah were shot, and Sassy was killed)...that leaves our beagle, Sandy (who was actually with both Angel and Sassy at around the times of their deaths and escaped both times, but we will be keeping an extra close eye on her, even if it means chaining her up when she is outside...Once I can get some pictures of her scanned and uploaded, I'll post links up...You would never believe she was Angel's mom from their colouring...Angel was white, Sassy was black...

Ratties, I am so sorry for your loss.  That is terrible.  It's unusual to not have road rash, but not impossible, either.  I hope that you keep Sandy safe.

There are 3 colors that labs have.  Chocolate, black, and yellow.  It is not uncommon for a black momma to throw yellow pups.  It's based on their genetics, black is dominant.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

Dear Ratties,   I am so sorry for your sweet Sassy.   Many hugs to you and your family.           I am thankful you found her body -
never finding a body would be the worst I think.

Ratties, I'm so sorry to hear about this!  I don't know where you live, but it sounds like there are some real jerks there. Poor Sassy....I wish I knew who did it and I would go there and hit them in the head. Have you called the police?People like that go on to become serial killers. I'm glad Sandy hasn't been hurt.  Many hugs to you and your family!

Oh Ratties, I am so so sorry, that has to be the worse to have a pet taken from you delibertly.  Usually we bid farewell because they get sick or just old but what has happened to you it just cruel.  Witty

OMG Ratties that is just sickening.  If it's the same person who murdered your other dogs, they need to catch the sociopath ASAP. Someone who would murder innocent dogs is probably capable of doing all sorts of other horrible things.

My prayers are with you and your family. God bless Sassy, Rajah, and Angel.

Sorry, I haven't been on...No we didn't call the police since they weren't any help when Angel and Rajah were killed...I live out in the country *which can be nice at times* but its also a hunting community...which drives me crazy, like I've told people, we don't need to hunt anymore to survive, thats why we have grocery stores...You know its bad when you can't have your rabbits in an outside cage because they will mysteriously disappear during the night and the only footprints outside the cage are human's...we buried Sassy a couple of days ago, I've been sick since then...I caught the flu or something but I'm starting to feel better...my mom has put all her focus on the Florida trip, to distract herself....Sandy is doing ok, she hasn't even tried to leave the yard since the incident, so thats a good thing, but I am concerned for when I go to Florida...I might have to get a chain to put her on when my grandparents let her outside to go potty while I'm gone...otherwise she might run off...

Ratties, I'm so sorry about Sassy. We live out in the country too, so I understand what you mean. There is always a poor dog or cat that someone sets out or moves off and abandons. We have a guy a couple houses up the road that always took it upon himself to "get rid" of the strays or the occasional neighbor's pet that happened to wander past his property. I witnessed him shoot at a stray female that had puppies in a barn next to our property. He didn't kill her, but he meant to. After chewing his butt I called the police and they gave him a warning and a stern talking to, so he keeps his shotgun inside his house now. It would be good if the police in your area would chat with your neighbor about his bad behaviour, maybe he would think twice the next time he felt his cowardly need to make himself feel important by abusing or killing an innocent animal. Bless your heart, sweet Ratties, I hope you find comfort in knowing that Sassy, Rajah, and Angel are across the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you. (((hugs)))

Ratties, this is awful. I am so sorry. It sounds like you live in a foreign country (no offense, mainly because I live in a concrete jungle).  I can't imagine having to live with that, and knowing you have a neigbhor who could take your pet out at any time.  Here's to better luck in the future.  If anyone's responsible, I hope they get theirs one day.....

Ratties, I am so sorry it took so long to post this. I don't know what to say, someone needs to give that guy a dose of his own medicine but there isnt any way of doing that is there. Maybe post a big warning sign (close but not on his property) warning of a dog killer on the loose in your area.

Ratties,
I am so sorry to hear about Sassy! It is bad enough to loose a pet but to loose them and not know what happened to them, is just the worst!

My thoughts are with you and your parents. If someone did indeed cause harm to Sassy, I hope you, or anyone, finds them and gives them what they deserve!

Valerie
