This is a story I wrote for a roleplay that I was in about my some of my characters, Mickey, Camille, Volcanopaw...Remy and Lilifey were characters of my friend Kat, Lily was a character of my friend Sky and Chris was a character of my friend Alex...The pups were never in the roleplay...The story is Anthro but the roleplay is realistic...lol....Let me know what you think, I wrote it a long time ago...

Chapter One

Blue lightning streaked across the sky. Mickey watched the beautiful patterns form before his eyes. He was thinking, remembering his childhood. He was still so young when it all happened. Tears still filled his eyes thinking about it. He stills mourns the lost of his love. His beautiful children. They were ripped away from him, by her. She killed them and laughed. He sees her face when he closes his eyes. Mocking him, teasing him. She said, “I told you all I would get back at you and her. Now I have.?She laughed. He hears that awful, gloating laugh ringing his ears at all times and just wants to screams. She had gone too far. He had to stop her. Volcanopaw had ruled his life because he feared her. She was his sister and loved power. She never felt compassion for anyone, not even their mom. Sophie didn’t see the attack coming, didn’t see the hatred in her daughter’s eyes as she approached her. She failed to recognize the smirk on her face. She didn’t foresee the knife Volcanopaw held behind her back. In one instance, her eyes filled with fear and shock as the knife plunged into her chest. The expression frozen on her face. Mickey didn’t see why Sophie never saw it coming. Volcanopaw was uncaring, even as a pup but their mother failed to see that. Even when Volcanopaw almost killed him at 4 weeks, Sophie turned the other cheek. Sure she was punished, but she always got away with starting fights. When Sophie was banished from the group by his grandma Lilifrey, Volcanopaw followed her.

The next couple of years went by in a whirl of activity. Mickey married the love of his life, Lily. They hadn’t seen Volcanopaw in a long time and things were going well. Lily had just delivered their first litter. He was the proud dad of 2 daughters (Lavender and Cheyenne) and 1 son (Dakota). The morning after their birth, Lily stayed with them while the group went out for the day. Mickey left for a while but decided to go back. He had an uneasy feeling. The sight that met him was gruesome. There was Lily, laying on the bed, her eyes dull and lifeless. A dagger still in her chest, she looked so pale. The pups in their cradles, eyes closed, not breathing. He ran to Lily’s side and tried to find a pulse, but he already knew she was gone. He held her hand and tears rolled down his cheeks. Then he heard it, that awful laughter, He turned and found himself face-to-face with his sister, Volcanopaw. He could see the pleasure in her face.

“How could you??Mickey asked.

“I swore I’d get you back?Volcanopaw said darkly. “I thought I had killed you, years ago. Imagine my surprise, when I saw you the other day with her.?She chuckles as though she had told a funny joke.

“If you were after me, why kill Lily and the pups? Are you going to kill me too??Mickey was now backed into the wall.

“I could kill you, but I won’t.?She replied with a smirk. “No, I am not going to end your misery. That’s what I want. You to suffer. I knew it would hurt you more to lose her and those brats than anything else I could do to you.?Her smile widened as she glanced from Lily’s still body to the pups. “They were very easy to kill. The pups never made a noise when I held the pillow over their faces. She only opened her eyes once the dagger was in her chest, by then it was too late. Reminded me of how I killed dear old mother? She laughed. Mickey felt sick to his stomach. He had just lost his wife and kids and she was bragging about it.

He didn’t remember what happened after that, but the next thing he knew he was on top of Volcanopaw. Her eyes still laughing at him, her mouth still in a smile. His hand pushing the dagger deep into her cold heart. There were multiple stab wounds to her chest. He glanced up at Lily’s body, and realized he had grabbed the dagger from her body and stabbed Volcanopaw with it repeatedly.

He slowly stood up and walked to the cradles. The pups looked so peaceful, almost as if they were just sleeping. He gently brushed his hand across their cheeks and said goodbye to his sweet little angels. Then returned to Lily’s side. She was his only love. He held her hand and cried.

When the rest of the family returned they were horrified. Mickey explained what had happened. Lilifrey ran to her daughters side. He could tell she was devastated. Camille tried to comfort Mickey, telling him that it wasn’t his fault. He couldn’t deal with it. He needed to be alone. He ran out of the burrow, ignoring the calls from rest, including his best friend Remy. They couldn’t understand what he was feeling. Not only did he lose the ones that meant the most to him, but he had murdered as well. He chose to leave the house, he should have stayed. Volcanopaw would never have been able to sneak into the house. Lily, Lavender, Cheyenne and Dakota would all still be alive.

Mickey felt a hand on his shoulder and jumped. It was Lilifrey, concerned mixed with her own sadness. Mickey sighed and look down. After a few minutes of silence, he let Lilifrey lead him back home.

Chapter 2

Its been two months since that night, and Mickey hasn’t been the same since. He is much quieter and cut off from the rest of the family. His family offers their sympathy and concern but Mickey feels so alone. He spends most of his days in his and Lily’s chamber. It looks exactly how she had decorated it. Her hair brush is still on the side table, her jewelry box on the dresser, her hope chest at the foot of the bed, and her favorite mirror hanging on the wall. He walks around the room, there are soo many memories. He runs his finger on the outer edges of the jewelry box. He absent-mindedly opens it and his eyes are fixed on a small tiara. He picks it up and goes and sits on the bed, staring at the tiara. Its gold with red rubies in it. Lily had worn this on their wedding day. She was so happy when Lilifrey had given it to her the day before the ceremony and it looks so gorgeous on her during the wedding. He closed his eyes and could see the wedding as if it were a movie.

The day had been gorgeous, it had been a summer wedding. Flowers in bloom everywhere. Mickey stood at the alter and waited for Lily to walk down the aisle. His best man was Remy, her maid of honor was Tawny. As the music started, Lily made her way slowly and gracefully down the aisle. Her arm intertwined with her dad’s. Chris smiled proudly. Lily was wearing a beautiful white dress with white bead designs all on the top. She carried a lovely bouquet of white tiger lilies, her favorite flower. She wore this tiara, she had fixed baby’s breath flowers around it. The effect was dazzling, she looked like an angel walking down the aisle. When they got to the alter, Chris patted Lily’s hand and set it in Mickey’s waiting hand, then took his seat beside Lilifrey. Lily and Mickey had smiled at each other, envisioning their lives together.

That was only about a year ago. They had thought they would grow old together, would be able to watch their children grow up. Mickey looked up at the cradles and sighed. He slowly walked back to the jewelry box, and carefully sat it inside. He wasn’t ready to let go, he couldn’t.

He gently shut the top of the jewelry box. He walked over to the hope chest at the foot of the bed. It was white with purple flowers on the top. He unlatched it and lifted the top open. Inside was all of Lily’s favorite things she wanted to keep safe. The hope chest had been a birthday present from Chris. She had been so excited when she unwrapped it. Chris wasn’t her biological father but he met Lilifrey while she was pregnant and always treated her like his own daughter. He had told her that all young girls need a special box to keep their life treasures in. Mickey knelt in front of the hope chest. He slowly unlatched it and lifted the lid open. There was multiple photo albums and scrape books, extra blankets, and bits of clothing. He started shuffling through the contents when he found a small box at the bottom of the chest. He turned the box in her hands, he didn’t know what was in it. He opened it and gasped. It was a silver-colored heart shaped rock. Tears swelled in his eyes as he remembered their first date.

It was winter time, Lily had been wearing a light blue jacket with white faux fur around the collar and wrist, white snow pants, and light blue gloves. The family was out enjoying the snow, it doesn’t last long here and is rare. They were having snowball fights. Mickey grabbed Lily’s hand and led her away from the burrow, he had a surprise for her. He led her to river, which was frozen solid, laying right next to the river was 2 pairs of ice skates. He helped Lily put her pink pair on, then he put his black pair on. The skated on the river for hours that day, laughing. They finally took a break and took off the skates. After finding a rock to sit on, Lily had looked at the landscape covered in clear, untouched snow.

“Its soo breath-taking.?Lily said, laying her head on Mickey’s shoulder. Mickey held her close, and looked at the landscape with her. It really was a beautiful sight. After a couple of minutes he felt something cold hit his face and heard laughter. Lily had scooped up a handful of fresh soft snow and tossed it in his face, She stood up and ran, laughing. Mickey got up and chased her, both throwing snow at each other. He finally caught up to her and grabbed her, causing them both to fall into the soft, powdery snow. They laid there in the snow, laughing and looking at the sky. Mickey sat up and felt something hard hit his elbow. He dug through the snow, and found the most beautiful rock he had ever seen. A silver-colored, heart shaped rock. He told Lily to close her eyes and hold out of her hand. When she had, he placed the rock in her hand. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at the rock. She had smiled and leaned forward and slowly kissed Mickey. It was their first real kiss.

He looked around the chamber, Lily had looked so stunning that day. Lily always looked beautiful. He wiped away the tears that were falling down his cheeks, and put the stone in its special little box. He placed it back into the hope chest, his eyes falling on 3 new scrape books. It was the baby books that Lily had started for Cheyenne, Lavender, and Dakota. He slowly picked them up, stood up and walked to the cradles.

His hands trembled as he held the baby books. He sat them in Lavenders cradle and gently touched her purple quilt. Lily had been so happy when she found out she was pregnant, she couldn’t wait to be a mom. She sat on the bed for weeks, knitting quilts. Quilts of all colors- purple, pink, blue, orange, green, red, and yellow. She gave the purple one to Lavender, the pink one to Cheyenne, and the blue one to Dakota. The rest were placed in her hope chest. He picked up Cheyenne’s baby book and flipped it to the first page. Cheyenne Sylvia Linklu was written in Lily’s handwriting. He closed it and set it back down. In turn he opened Lavender’s and Dakota’s books. Lily had written their whole names in the books. Lavender Anne Linklu. Dakota Zachery Linklu. There wasn’t much in the baby books, they weren’t here long enough. He picked up the books and held them to his chest, hugging them.

Lily had been sitting on the bed, heavily pregnant. She knew it was time and called for Mickey. Mickey had rushed into the room, a nervous wreck. Lilifrey, Tawny and Camille were calm as can be, he had been so thankful that they were all there to help. The doctor had already arrived, Remy had gone to get him earlier when the contractions had started. Lilifrey, Tawny and Camille lead Lily in to the “birthing chamber? Mickey had waited in the main living area with Chris and Remy. All three had been jumpy. Finally the doctor came out of the chamber, and announced that Lily had given birth to two beautiful, healthy baby girls and 1 handsome, healthy baby boy. He patted Mickey on the back and wished everyone a good night. Mickey, Chris and Remy had all run into the chamber. Lily laid in the bed, holding Lavender, Lilifrey was holding Dakota and Camille was holding Cheyenne. Lily looked exhausted but proud. Mickey went to her side and she handed Lavender to him. He sat on the bed next to her. He was so proud of her, and of his three wonderful children. He couldn’t wait to watch them grow. He handed Lavender to the waiting arms of Chris, and Camille let Remy hold Cheyenne. Mickey held Lily’s hand, he felt her squeeze his hand gently. He knew she was tired and needed her rest as did the babies. He helped her up and led her to their chamber. Remy, Chris, and Lilifrey carried the pups in to the chamber, and Lily told them which pup went into which cradles. After making sure the babies were all set, Lily laid back in the bed, Mickey sat there, holding her hand as she drifted off to sleep. He sat there for a long time watching Lily and the pups sleep. He had been so happy. He had been happy.

Mickey sighed deeply, threw the books on the floor. He had to get out of here. He had to. He felt like the chamber was getting smaller. He couldn’t breathe, The ran out the chamber and past every in the main living chamber, pushing Remy aside. He had to get out. Everything reminded him of his family. Once outside, he just ran. He didn’t pay any attention to where he was going, he just needed to get away. He wanted everything to end. The pain, suffering, and loneliness he felt. It was only when he tripped over a root that he realized just where his feet had taken him.

He looked at the four grave markers under the big tree. This is where his family was buried. His clutched his fist tight around sand. He couldn’t stand this pain. It was too much for him. He looked at the full moos and screamed. His eyes and cheeks were wet with tears from crying when he walked to her grave marker.

“Mickey.?said a soft familiar voice. Mickey turned toward the voice. He couldn’t believe it. Lily. She floated towards him. She wearing a white gown. There were a pair of white feather wings on her back and a small golden halo above her head. She smiled sweetly and held out her hand. Mickey placed his hand in hers and she helped him stand up. He stood there looking at her, not believing what he was seeing. She reached out and wiped his cheeks.

“Lily,?said Mickey, finding his voice, “I’m sorry. Its all my fault.?He couldn’t stop it, he started sobbing. Lily placed her hand on his face.

“Mickey, I can’t stand to see you like this.?Lily responded, “Its not your fault. You couldn’t have known what would happen. I love you. The kids love you and we miss you. Someday we’ll be together again, But I don’t want you to be miserable until then.?/P>

“How am I suppose to go on? Everything reminds me of you and the kids. You were my world, my life, my love. It hurts so much?/P>

“I know its been hard on you. But Mickey, you can’t stop living. That’s not what I want.?Lily said. “Promise me. Promise me that you won’t blame yourself for this. That you won’t let the grief eat you alive. Promise me, now.?/P>

“Lily, I love you and miss you. I will always miss you, but I promise. If that’s what you want, I promise.?Mickey choked out between sobs. Lily softly and lovingly drew Mickey close to her and kissed him.

“I love you too.?and with that she was gone. Mickey stood there, facing the spot where she was just standing. He walked to the grave markers and sat down. He leaned back and looked at the moon and stars. He wasn’t ready to go back home yet. He was thinking about what had just happened. Lily’s appearance, the conversation, the promise he made her. He would do anything for her. Anything she wanted, and she wanted him to be happy. He vowed to try his best to keep his promise to Lily, knowing she was looking down at him. Watching him.
