Tiling Windows
My tuts are designed to be used with tiling windows horizontally. This tut will show you how to tile windows.

Note:There are choices of browsers out there but most people use Internet explorer, which is what my tuts are based on. I recommend using your IE browser for doing this tut. If you have aol or other ISP specific browser try minimizing it and double clicking the IE icon to bring it up.

Okay the first step is to get two windows open. Your browser (the program you use to view the web or html documents) is already open or you wouldn't be seeing this page. For purposes of this tutorial we are going to open a second browser window.
In the left corner of your screen left click on file, when the menu comes down move your mouse over new. You should get something that looks like the picture below. Move your mouse over window and left click.

The circled part in the picture shows the hot key for that command: this means that to open a new window you can also hold down your control button--bottom left of keyboard some have it on right too--and type N. I use hot keys myself but I understand that they are hard to remember.

Second Step--We are going to undock or move down the windows. Most windows will automatically open all the way up on screen. To be able to tile windows they must be undocked.
Left click on move down button in upper right corner, right next to x box.Do this to both windows. If you have what looks like a single window in place of the double windows the window is already undocked.

Note: If you have any other windows open other than the two we are working with minimize them before next step or they will be tiled too.

Last step:RIGHT click on windows tool bar(bar that start menu is on) and you will get a menu somewhat like the one below. Move your mouse over tile windows horizontally and click. Your screen should now look somewhat like the second screen shot.

For practice tile the windows vertically. If you forget how just go back over the steps and click on tile vertically instead of horizontally.

Now lets have some fun. Remember how to open a new browswer window, if not go back and look. Open up another. Undock it. and then tile windows. You can keep playing around with it until you memorize the steps.

Okay back to work. Close out all extra windows until you are back to the first two. Retile them.

Okay now you can play around with resizing them. You can make one bigger or smaller and so on. Move your mouse to the point where the bottom and top meet. You should get a double headed arrow of some sort. If not move your mouse to where it is right over the bottom and top lines. Look at the picture if you need help.

Now Left click and hold and you can slide the top or bottom of the active window up or down. You can do this on any edge of a window. you can make them skinnier, wider, etc.

I have tried to keep all of my tuts designed so that you can view them in a window in about 1/3 of your screen while you work in a larger window. Unfortunately due to differnt screen resolutions this is immpossible to ensure. Play around until you find what works for you.

That wraps this lesson up. I hope you enjoyed it.
