Symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Sign up for our newsletter to receive news about Chronic Pain treatment and therapies used in our treatment centers.

In order to understand what you are experiencing with your conditions, ask yourself a few questions:

  • Have a lot of pain in specific body parts without there being any evidence of bruising or swelling?
  • Rate your pain on a scale of 1-10 (10 being severe); would it often be at a 6 or above?
  • Have trouble sleeping three or more nights a week?
  • Changed your lifestyle or activity level because you do or may feel achy and tired?
  • Forget things, lose things or have so much mental confusion you wonder if it may be the early onset of Alzheimer's disease?
  • Depressed because you can't figure out what is wrong?
  • Waking up feeling more tired than when you went to bed?

If you answer "yes" to as many as two of these questions, you may have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome or Unrelenting Fatigue. You should understand that these symptoms present differently in each patient and even differently within the same patient day-to-day. Therefore, if you answered "yes" to even one question, you should consult a physician. We've listed some of the possible symptoms below for self-evaluation.

Fortunately for you, Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Centers, Inc. (FFC) specializes in dealing with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome and Unrelenting Fatigue. To attend a free educational seminar or to schedule an appointment at a Center near you, call toll-free 1-866-443-4276. At FFC, we were founded on the belief that no one should endure sustained suffering when help is available. If the nearest FFC location is a distance away, we offer affordable and flexible treatment for out of town patients.

Fibromyalgia symptoms are frequently characterized by the following:

  • Flu-like pain that can be severe and constant
  • A constant feeling of exhaustion
  • Specific tender points that hurt
  • Overall body aches
  • Depression
  • Muscle stiffness and pain
  • Insomnia or other sleep disorders
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Depression not caused by a trauma or event, but by chronic discomfort
  • Cognitive problems, often called "brain fog"
  • Reoccurring headaches
  • Multiple reoccurring infections
  • Irritable bowel syndrome

Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome symptoms are frequently characterized by the following:

  • Unexplained extreme fatigue
  • Decrease in ability to perform work, educational, social and personal activities due to fatigue
  • Chronic or frequent sore throat
  • Muscle pain
  • Difficulty with concentration or short-term memory
  • Headaches unlike those previously experienced
  • Joint pain unrelated to injury or trauma
  • Unrefreshed sleep
  • Tender lymph nodes
  • Chronic low-grade fever

If the symptoms listed above, do not adequately describe what you're feeling, you may have Unrelenting Fatigue.

Unrelenting Fatigue symptoms are frequently characterized by many of the following:

  • Extreme, persistent exhaustion
  • Exhaustion results in decreased ability to perform at work and within social and personal activities
  • Frequent experiences of difficulty concentrating and remaining focused
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Weight gain
  • Associated hormonal imbalances
