How do you all celebrate Thanksgiving? Do you have it the same as we do? What are your traditional dishes, are they like our ham, turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauces, potatoes and gravy, squash with marshmallow toppings, jello molds, fruit salads, green bean casserole, pumpkin and apple pies and all the other fixin's that stuff your tummy till you can't move a muscle and you fall out in front of the television and sleep for several hours while the ball games are on?
We bought a turkey fryer a few years ago because the first time I had deep fried turkey I said I would never go back to roasted. I had to go back because I lived in government housing and couldn't use a outdoor grill on my balcony but once I got married and came here there was no restrictions so I went out and found me a deep fryer! Well we've fried a few of them since and there is absolutely nothing better than a juicy deep fried turkey on a cold winters day. DH marinates the turkey and I get the fixins going on the stove and in the oven in here and we pull out the two card tables to add space so there's room for all the food and friends and we sit down and have a feast fit for a king. I got my new range after the fire this year so this Christmas getting all the food cooked is going to be a cinch! I have a much larger oven with a warming drawer and five burners and also a new toaster oven that will work great for smaller dishes if my oven won't hold all of it! My rolls will cook in the lower oven and I can stick the extra bowl of stuffing in the warmer drawer when it's cooked to stay warm leaving me more oven space.
I am looking forward to thanksgiving this year because we are going away for dinner. We don't have company coming over so we wll spend it with my mom (if I forgive her by then) and one of her friends and their family puts out a big Thanksgiving dinner at the senior citizens club for a smaller group (about 40-50) of people and we all eat together and they celebrate my birthday. Before I was married I went there every year since that's around my birthday, it always served as my birthday dinner! But I'm not sure if I am going to be un-mad at her by that time yet, I haven't decided if she learned her lesson yet, we'll see! ;)
Talk later dear!
Love, Summer
