Hello my name is Summer, I am the founder of this group. I am so very pleased to welcome you to the group. Normalee is the Manager of the group and is very knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate. Melissa and Ed are our Assistant Managers, and have truly been blessings to both Normalee and myself.

It is an exciting day for us when we can open our hearts and arms in an embrace to a new member. On the left hand column, you will see the menu, please make yourself at home, and feel free to browse each of the different items. The General Message board is there to post messages to the group. There are managers?mailboxes in the Post Office as well as individual group member mailboxes to post messages directly to the managers and members. Within a few days you too will have your own mailbox that Melissa will set up for you, so if you have a preference for colors or pictures or even a mailbox you would like, send a note to her mailbox and she will be happy to set it up for you.

The Medical Information Library boards, which have medical and newsworthy information are for your perusal. Please ask if you have any questions, either on the General Message board or in the managers?mailboxes. We usually hold regular chats and the schedule is listed on the chat pages, as well as special requested chats. To ask someone to meet you in the chat room just post a message on the General Message and title it -Meet me in Chat- or something like that and whoever else is on the boards will see if and join you if they can. I am often times online during the day and later evening and can usually join if I am on. Normalee and I host special chat sessions when requested and if she is unable to do it I will fill in if I am available. I also am available for one-on-one chat sessions scheduled in advance for members who are in need. To request one of these chats you must submit a request on the Request Board link. The normal time to wait for someone in an open chat to join you is about 20-30 minutes since we have to allow for dial-up connection speeds. You can always connect to the chat room and 'float' the window and open a second window to browse.

You are always welcome to join the regular chats and that schedule is posted on the Chat Room page. To enter the chat room you will need to register for your password through the Chat Room Registration page. Participation in chat is considered activity on the site for the rules guidelines for posting requirements. A quick 'hello', 'how are you' or 'just checking in' also constitutes participation. Should you come across information that you feel is pertinent, please submit it to mine or Normalee's managers mailbox in our Post Office and we will see that it gets posted to the correct board.

I know this is a lot of information to digest right now but don't worry if you don't remember all of it, just feel free to ask as many questions as you need anyone will help you, we don't mind questions at all. We just want your experience to be pleasant and helpful and we are all friendly. We are welcoming you to our family.

We operate on a "Moderated Posting Policy" which means that no post makes it to a message board without being approved by a member of the management team. The first several posts you put in may take a little while to go through the queue, this does bedome faster. When you post you will see a pop-up informing you that we employ the moderated posting method. Do not be alarmed, everyone sees it. Your post will go through the approval queue and get on to the board. All messages are subject to removal from the boards if they do not meet site standards. When you applied for membership you automatically agreed to this via checking the MSN COC box. Please read the rules and Code of Conduct and sign the list (do this just as you would reply to a post) within 48 hours of becoming a member. After you do that, I invite you to introduce yourself to us on the "Who Am I" board so we can get to know a bit more about you which will enable us to gear our information search to your needs. We are a very close group and most of us here are on a first name basis. Since you have been accepted you are not just a member of a "group" but part of our family!

Each of us extend a very warm welcome you.

Again, it is an honor to have you a"Board"!

Hi!

And THANK YOU for the Welcomes!!

I am female, happily married and live in St. Louis, MO.  I don't actually have RSD myself, but I have a friend who does that I am trying to encourage to join the group also.  However, I am a chronic pain sufferer with a long list of diagnosis. I've been avoiding doctors for the past few years, except for my pain management doc and feel I'm about to pay the price for doing so.  I have an appointment tomorrow to get the ball rolling again, as I can tell that something else is going on.  I've been sick since 1993, and on disability since 1999.  We have no children, but have 2 dogs we spoil like kids - except we don't have to teach them to drive, buy them a car or save for a college fund. :)

I look forward to meeting you all!

CherryGarcia  :)

Hi Cherry,

Nice to have you! I posted your message as soon as Summer called me as said she cannot get in to approve messages. She is having trouble with her password I guess.

Sorry it took so long. I am not usually home on the weekends so I was not at my computer and I got the email when I got up. I think Summer changed her password and forgot what it is. It has been so hectic around her that its possible. She will figure it out. I know she is out and is trying getting in through her cell access and that may have be the problem. I dont know when she will be home. She is not doing well the last few days.

I am happy that you joined the group, its great to have you! If you get your friend to join that would be super! We dont worry if you have RSD or not, we welcome anyone that has any contact with anybody with pain issues. You are always welcome here.

We are moving the group soon and I am trying to learn the new site and its making me wish I was 18 again! Its hard to teach a old dog new tricks! I have a 18 year old daughter in college that tries to teach me but gets so frustrated with me some days! But she is a big help to me all the time anyway!

You should not have any trouble with any future posts going through after today. I fixed it so there would be no delay for you anymore. I hope you get things figured out at the docs today. Being disabled for that long and having something new crop up is a bit discouraging, but youre right you have to take care of it as soon as you can.

I like that part about buying a car for the dogs, but you better be careful they might hear you and if they are as spoiled as you say they may start to demand one!!!

Its good to have you here again! And I hope we get to meet in the chatroom soon. I will try to make it on Wednesday, my daughter has a function at her school tonight that we are going to so I wont be home until late. And I hope Summer gets her sign-in figured out soon too! I know she has to be frustrated! I think its kind of funny she always helps me because I am the dummy when it comes to computers and stuff and now the shoe is on the other foot! So I have to figure out how to help her!

Take care friend!

Hugz, Normalee

Thanks Jayray!  And THANKS to EVERYONE for the very warm welcome!  Unfortunately, I joined the group at a bad time, when I'm going thru a very rough spot in my health.  I'm going back to doctors - and thru a barrage of tests again.  One thing they are fairly certain I have added to my long list of diagnoses is Type2 Diabetes, which is one thing I did NOT want to have. I'm not sure what else they will find, but I'm hoping they can get me feeling better than I do right now.  Please allow me to apologize for joining and then not being here to participate. I do feel terrible about that.  Your group seems like an amazing group of people and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you all as soon as I'm able.  I would much prefer chatting with you all than laying in my bed feeling as I do at this moment.  But, this too shall pass, and at least I'm finally past my wonderful stage 1 of denial and stage 2 of procrastination - and I really like my new doctor..so hey, that's half the battle won right there!  LOL!  You all take care, and I hope to meet you soon!

Thanks Again, and Warm, Gentle Hugs to Each Of You,

CherryGarcia

I'm not sure if this email will go to just you or to the entire group... (not sure how that works yet) But if it does just go to you.. would you please share it with everyone so they know that I'm not being rude and ignoring them?  I'd sure appreciate it.  thanks so very much

Hi CherryGarcia,

Great to hear from you sweetie!

Its never a bad time to join! Especially when you are just starting back up with docs. There is so much info here that can help you get just what you need from your doctors. I know its been a while since youve been to your doctors and all and so many things have changed, so getting updated on new techniques and ideas might be just the ticket!

Dont worry about not posting every few hours or so, we dont expect that at all. You just do your best and that is all we desire. You have to take care of yourself first. We all understand how it is to be feeling poorly. Its awful to end up having yet another thing to deal with on our already long list of stuff. We offer you support for that because we all are going through the same thing. So if youre worried that because you cant post for a day, dont!!! We know you wont be absent for long. Everyone misses days, we dont have a posting requirement. We will not kick you out, we will not ever stop supporting you. You are so important to us. You joined a family here that understands what youre going through and we wont browbeat you into making statements on a schedule ok!!!

Youre doing fine and we just want you to feel welcome and confortable. Our mission or goal for this group is that each member feels welcome and that they have a friendly family that understands.

So whenever you feel up to it, you can participate, we arent going anywhere away from you. Our doors are always open as well as our hearts! You are loved! Things are slow right now anyway because of the move so dont worry about a thing ok! You will not get left out,
ever!

I too, look forward to talking with you in chatroom, it should be fun! I am hoping that I will still be doing ok today to make it for 8pm Eastern time tonight. I plan on being there as long as I still feel ok. I tend to get weak and dizzy after dinnertime. I am in some rigorous PT right now relearning to use my arms and hands and it takes alot out of me. I am heading out the door for it now and I stay for 2 hours and then my daughter picks me up on her way to work from her classes and we eat dinner together and she drops me off at home on Wednesdays. Then my home help takes care of things until midnight when my daughter comes home and she and I spend a couple of hours together goofing around or something. Then she has class at 10 on Thrusday mornings and I have my personal care stuff until noon tended to and my home help then cleans my house and does grocery shopping for me. So I get a half day to myself. I usually spend that time reading or playing around on the new site lately now.

So just take care and dont worry about a thing ok! We really do care alot about our members here. Each one of you are so special to all of us! If you set your email to get them direct to you then you can read the messages at your leisure or just pop in whenever you can, we never close!

Hugz, Normalee
