 CHOCOLATE SLICE
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 6 ounces butter, divided (4 ounces and 2 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons syrup
  • 1 can condensed milk (14 fluid ounces)
  • 8 ounces chocolate pieces.
  1. Sift flour into bowl. Add sugar and coconut; mix well.Stir in 4 ounces melted butter. Press coconut mixture into pan.
  2. Bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes or until brown.
  3. Place remaining melted butter into bowl. Stir in syrup and condensed milk. Pour over cooked base. Return to oven and cook for 20 minutes or until bubbly. Remove from oven and cool.
  4. Place 8 ounces melted chocolate into bowl. Stir in 2 ounces melted copha, (vegetable shortening).
  5. Spread chocolate mixture over slice. When set, cut into slices. (For smooth even slices, cut with a wet knife.)

Chocolate Wheaten Slice
 
1 cup S R flour
1 tablespoon cocoa
3 weet- bix finely crushed
1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
125g [ 4 oz] melted butter.
 
Sift flour and cocoa into a large bowl, stir in the rest of the ingredients. Mix well
Press mixture firmly into a greased 19cm x 29cm lamington pan and bake in
a 180C preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until browned.
Remove from oven.
 Melt 150g chopped cooking milk chocolate with 20g butter until smooth.
Spread melted chocolate over warm slice.
Refrigerate until slice is firm. Cut slice into squares to serve.
