Strawberry Basics

Strawberry Basics

Fresh berry season is upon us.  According to http://www.kraftfoods.com, this is the way to prepare strawberries:

Place fresh unhulled strawberries in a colander and gently rinse with cold water. Do not soak. Wash berries just before ready to use. Place rinsed strawberries on paper towels to dry. Using your fingertips, pull off the leafy cap of the strawberry. Cut out the inner, soft, white core of the berry with the tip of a paring knife.  Place cleaned and hulled strawberry on cutting board with pointed side up. With a small paring knife, cut, starting at the point down to the bottom of the strawberry. To quarter strawberries, cut each half again.

You can freeze strawberries after you have finished this process..
For a nice fresh FROZEN strawberry, use a good freezer bag, or container. Use a drinking straw to suck the air out of the bag. Your strawberries will be nice and fresh up to 2 months in an over-fridge freezer, or 6 months in the floor style freezer.
This will work will for all BERRIES..
