This request came from Noncook, Snookie, of Lynda's site on 9/18/03

Snookie...Go to CD Kitchen and find 425 brownie recipes!  (If that link doesn't work, just click on http://www.cdkitchen.com and type "Brownies" into their search engine.)

Here's one that sounds sinfully good:

Fudgy Brownies
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Confectioner's sugar for dusting (optional)
  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.  Butter an 8-inch square pan.  Line the
bottom of the pan with wax paper, then butter and flour the paper.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate with butter, stirring to blend.
Remove from the heat and stir in sugar, egg, salt, flour, walnuts and
    vanilla.
  3. Spread in the prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes.  Cool
for 5 minutes, then turn out onto rack and peel wax paper from bottom.
  4. Transfer to a cutting board and cut in squares.  Dust brownies with
    confectioners' sugar if desired.

Yields 16 brownies

Note from Ariane: "I usually double this recipe and omit the walnuts since I don't like nuts.  It makes a very rich, fudgy brownie, perfect for chocoholics!

Go to the Dollar General Store and pay $1.00 for a Pillsbury Brownie Mix.  It is very good and if you have a Pampered Chef Bar pan you can use that to bake it in your toaster oven.  Now that's my kind of cooking!
