View the details of this row. 12/21/2007  New Member ALL ABOUT ME!!!!!!!! Hi All, I am fairly new to this group and because of the holidays I have been running behind on posting an “ALL ABOUT ME?Post. Well here it is. I live high in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina where I was born and raised. I am 40 years old (Some days I feel 100) I was married for 11 years and now divorced for 6 WONDERFUL years. I have 3 kids, 3 grandkids and a 4 legged baby boy named Chippy who is a Pomeranian, Stephanie (Now 24) who I became a momma to when I was 13 because her momma didn’t want her when she was only 6 month’s old being adopted myself at 6 month’s I just couldn’t say no to a baby being mistreated. After I was married in 1988 we legally adopted her as our own, then proceeded to have a son in 1990 named Justin (Now 17) Both will be having birthdays in January 1 day apart 21st and 22nd. While I was married I owned a very successful restaurant for 5 years, just woke up one morning with NO EXPERIENCE and decided I wanted one, being only a high school graduate I had NO IDEA how to go about it but with A LOT of reading and research on the internet and idea’s that I am known for popping off the top of my head, much to my surprise it took off and FLEW. Sadly I had to close my doors in 2000 because my main income of daily deliveries to the area’s 9 factories was taken away when they all packed up and moved operations overseas. I moved to Greensboro, NC where I met my last babies father and little did we know at the time I was carrying her with Uterine Cancer and 6 month’s after she was born underwent surgery to have the 2 tumors removed, and today I am still cancer FREE. My daughter and me are real life “Father of the bride part 2 gals?as we were pregnant together and my oldest grandson and Cheyenne is 2 month’s apart in age. Cheyenne was also born the day before her daddy (July 19th and 20th) so they are very close. I am currently the co ?owner of a web design company that was Mark’s dream, but this spring I am branching out into the things I still love to do and will be opening 3 new businesses in the Asheville, NC area ?Wedding Consultant, Caterer and Personal Chef. I love to plan, design, cook and craft as does a lot of my family and friends so this will fit right up our alley, and will also help other’s who have been laid off from various jobs in our town. I am planning to employee a lot of people. I do have a lot of current health problems for my age that includes; Hypothyroidism, Corroded Artery Disease, Chrones Disease and Fibromyaliga. Well guys that is all I can think of about me. Any other questions please feel free to ask and I can also be emailed at this user name at the hottest email on the web (Now figure that out…LOL) Thanks again, Connie C

Hi!

My name is Bea, I live out in rural Georgia about halfway between Savannah and Augusta.  I'm 52, been married to my sweetie for 27 years.  we have a 22 year old daughter, her 21 year old boyfriend and their 23 month old little man.  I love to cook, but I rarely have time or energy to anymore because of work.  I do a lot of cooking on my days off so I can pack and send meals to my daughter etc...pack stuff for DH to take out on the road (he's a truck driver) and still have something here for me to eat!

I'm really looking forward to sharing a lot of good recipes with you all!

My name is Shirley and I live in Australia .. I am 56yrs old, have been married 37yrs, have 3 children and 7 grandchildren .. when my kids were young I loved to cook, I was always trying new recipes .. but now that the kids all have their own families, I hate cooking, I only use recipes that are easy and have minimal ingredients and get me out of the kitchen as quick as possible.
Hugs, Shirley.
View the details of this row. 4/28/2005  Hi from Wayne
I'm a 50 year old who had major open heart surgery and then a month later lost my left leg. Mama, Grandmama, aunt Bertie and Greataunt Mary taught me to cook starting back when I was 5 and you haven't been able to keep me out of a kitchen yet. LOL.

Now that I'm on disability I am always on the prowl for quick, CHEAP dishes to cook to make the food budget stretch. Glad I found this site and some of those great recipies.

Hello, The idea of being a non-cook is so funny!  We are all cooks at one time or another.  Maybe not good ones, but cooks non-the-less!  I try not order out a lot these days, as I love to cook - there just seems to not be a enough time to cook the great meals we all enjoy and wish we could have on a regular basis.  I take care of my fiance who had a brain aneurysm in 1997 and I work online.  I have several online shops but the main one is EileensEshop.com.  I hope I don't get in trouble for encluding that!  I have wanted to add recipes to my site for some time as I have a ton of them to share.  When my daugher was growing up I took every cooking class around where they would allow her to come with me.  I wanted her to know her way around a kitchen, and she certainly does.  The problem is, she has a sweet 4 year old and one on the way now too.  She does not cook much, her adoring husband has a good job and takes her to dinner most of the time.  Lucky girl!  Of course, she does go to college and most of the year works part time, so she does have her hands full.  But, you know what?  Everybody does.  Do you know anyone who has time to spare?  There simply is no such thing.  Spare time in this day and age is a non-thing. Completely unheard of.  Time and food.  Making time to prepare a meal is something I do everyday.  Well, I have to.  Russ has to have good well rounded meals 3 times a day.  He takes a lot of medications and needs food with all of them. So, I make time to cook.  I love it too.  When I can and it is appropriate, I order pizza and salad or oriental food.  But not as often as I would like too!  lol  We love hamburgers from a couple of the local restaurants but do not get that often either.  My kitchen is so full of cookbooks, notebooks and recipe cards it is embarrassing.  My daughter and daughter-in-law are amazed at all the things I know how to cook.  I think it is time to start giving away the cookbooks as I do not have room for more new ones and I do still buy them.  Isn't that silly?  lol  I am a real sucker for a new cookbook.  If I open one up and see even a deviation on a recipe I think I have to have it.  No kidding.  I am the queen of clutter when it comes to cookbooks!  I read them like they were novels. But to have more I will have to get rid of some.  I have cookbooks that I bought when I was in junior high school.  Maybe I could let those go now....  HA.  My relics are my favorites.  There is not much more to tell about me but if you want a bit more I have two pages - www.eileenseshopinfo.com/aboutUs that starts out on a business note but turns personal.  I also have a page on Ryze.  Have a great and blessed day.  ~Eileen Brown
View the details of this row. 7/20/2004  Hello! Hi, I'm Rosie I'm 27 years old and have a 3 year old little boy named Bj. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for the last 5 years. Although I consider myself a "competent" cook, I'd really like to start cooking more. I only have a hand full of recipes that I use which has become extremely boring. I hadn't realized that we spent so much money eating out until we reviewed our budget last month. We are expecting to purchase a nice family car next month for our hopefully expanding family. And I was shocked to realize we had about $800.00 dollars a month disappearing a month mostly to eating out. I enjoy cooking just really don't know how. In the hopes of saving money and spending some well deserved family time around the dinner table I've joined!

Hello,

My name is Heidi and I have a four month old daughter and I am already worried about what I will feed her when she gets older.  I am 35 and she came as quit a surprise to me, because I was told I could not have kids.  Well that not being the case anymore I now want to make sure that when she gets older she has good meals to sit down to every night that will also help in making memories for her for when she grows up and has a family of her own.  I wont to be able to pass on to her my recipies.  My own mother has long since passed away and so I dont have her to call on for help.  So if anyone can help me with ideas on different things to fix I would greatly appreciate it.  I have no imagination and did not cook a lot before she came, we went out to eat, but that will no longer be the case as I want to make dinner time, family time.  Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Heidi

Hi everyone!  I'm Gina, in Atlanta.  I'm a 33 year old single mom of a great little 7 year old boy named Taye.  When we get some free time, we both like to conduct "experiments" in the kitchen.  His current culinary masterpiece at the moment is Grilled Cheese.  And he gets to be my guinea pig for whatever interesting things I come across on the lists.

I love cooking and great food, but my real passion is collecting vintage cookbooks from old over the world.  My collection is well on it's way past 200 now with no end in sight for the foreseeable future.

I'm glad to be part of this great list and community and hope you will all like some of my favorite recipes that I'll be sharing.
