Want to discuss something? How about starting a topic and we'll see how far we can go. |

That is a never ending topic, nowonder. It seems all groups have this problem. They either can't remember how to get back to the site, don't really care, join just to read, or whatever reason. Even with their e-mail addresses, I don't get responses when I write and ask why they haven't joined us on the boards. Any one have any opinions on this? Any of our newer members have a comment? |

It's an interesting question. Maybe they just join to gain entrance - snoop around a bit. |

I have no answers here, but I have tried to imagine what would cause me to join a group, and never participate. (I actually think I may have done that before Christmas-someone was showing some pre-made siggies in another group I'm in.) It appeared that, in order to possibly obtain some of these siggies with my name on it, I had to join a Yahoo group. I did that but never followed through, and couldn't find any siggies with my name on it and haven't been back to yahoo groups since. Also, I have joined a couple of closed groups, and have found that either they had too little participation, or someone hogged the boards, etc. If I don't like them, I just delete myself and leave. |

Also, I think that if I had joined a group, or groups directly after being introduced to the computer world, I would have been lost. As it turned out, I had a computer at work for about a year before I got mine, and was able to learn about e-mails, etc, and the transition to groups was fairly easy. I'm often surprised at how old some people are who come on here. I just hope I will be able to SEE and TYPE when I'm 80 or so. Oh, yes, and THINK!!! sb/jackie |

Not surprised at all at the ages, s/b. Just wish more elderly (age 80 and above) folks would take up computerizing. Wonderful pass time for them. Even more so than for young whipper-snippers that lead such a busy life style. Don't you think so ? As time marches on let's hope WE are still able Know I will if I live that long !! How about you ?? |

I always remember being new to the computer and sitting there thinking how do I reach somebody. I found MSN Communities and joined this particular group (the original). I still marvel at my ability to do that when no one in my family or amongst my friends knew anything about Communities. I did it all by myself. Nowonder, Gammas, Shelly, Trish, and Nelson were my first contacts. I was so happy to be able to play games, etc. It was all so new to me. |

I think most of us here are self taught. I was trial and error... and when I first got my puter, I was up till all hours trying to learn something new every day. I remember what a thrill when I did learn things, and still have only a small per cent of knowledge as to what this machine can do. I am still learning. I remember all those folks you mentioned....I also remember how fearful and disbelieving we all were, thinking everyone else was a axe murderer or not who they said they were.....Remember when??? What were we afraid of? That's a good topic.....what were you cautious or doubtful about when you first learned to sign on??? |

You know, I think I was pretty trusting. I remember you, Eln, showing a few of us how to obtain something from the Clip Art file. I was so proud to be able to do that. |

Not as far as I would like to. There are many things about graphics that I would like to learn - but haven't the patience to struggle through by myself. For instance, I would like to know what that Paint thing is. |

the best way to learn is to open it and try ............ it isn't going to break anything |
