years ago, wewatched Meercats on Nat'l Geo, and they became a family obsession.  I have a sculpture of a meercat family on my desk, looking in all different directions.  Very entertaining creatures.

At our Zoo, they had a new family of Meercats.  A little girl climbed on a rock and got in to too close to one and got bit.  They had to kill the meercats because the parents didn't want their child to have rabies shots.  There was so much criticism of the parents for this.  I know I would have opted for the killing of the animals rather than my child undergoing rabies shots.  How about you?
